Bad arguments. I also won't buy a Tesla just because good people work there.
I think you have fallen to the sunk cost fallacy as in you have recommended it to so many people that now you can't move away.
If the product isn't any good, the money is flowing to a dickhead and people are let go anyway (if they don't replace themselves with AI), then there is no valid reason to keep paying for this product.
Also it's a swiss company, which is problematic for so many reasons.
Well yes. Random people generating pull requests that they have no idea about IS different from a Tuta employee asking a Chatbot how to solve a specific problem.

Go to Tuta if you do not want to selfhost. But take your own email domain. If tuta also turns to shit, you still control your addresses and the next migration will be easy as hell.
A Domain can cost as low as 1€ per Month and the Tuta + Own Domain Setup is easy and set-and-forget.
There already is book support. It's just not on par with other media types
"They're shrinking Greenland, so that I'm less interested in it." - Donald Trump, probably
I never disputed that this person might be doing much. I only disputed that they said it would be easy living US Free. Which, in the Tech Sector it is not.
This is not a political debate, this is about facts of patents, dependencies and supply chains.
Hell, this guy has the guts to say that living US free is easy and then goes to work every day to work on a windows machine. It apparently is not easy
Nah, man. I hate the American Dominance as much as the next guy. I'm just telling you to be realistic. There is no independence from US Tech yet. We will reach that some day and I will be glad but right now it is not feasible.
You got to get your mindset in check. If you call anyone a MAGA plant that corrects you, there's something wrong with how you see the world.
I also never said that we should not do anything about it, that's just something you put into my mouth. I want people to get off American Tech, why do you think I'm here on Lemmy? But saying that not a single cent will go to the US is just factually wrong.
We Europeans always bash our neighbors. We're like brothers, that always fight but at the end of the day would stand in for another.
I'd kiss those silly frenchmen, that I keep on bashing, on the lips long before I'd even consider giving a yankee a hug.
Sure, man.
If Huawei were to release a Laptop without Bluetooth, without Wifi, without HDMI, without H.264 or H.265, and without any other US patented Tech and without any paid US Software anywhere inside their supply chain, not a single cent would flow to the US.
But that's not the case yet, so we still have to keep on dreaming.
Well, yeah. If you just exclude companies that are too hard to avoid, like Intel, Nvidia, AMD, Qualcomm, and Google (with your Android), suddenly it is really easy. Just because something isn't fabbed in the US, that doesn't mean it's a non-US Product. Some Tech Company in the US still profits through your purchase. That's what the previous commentor hinted at with "Don't use any computers?"
I didn't even know this genre had a name
