Sean doesn't want people to point out that he worked on Copilot. Here, the diagnostic question is something like, "Why do you think that the chatbots are good and capable?" The mental-health stuff is a distraction; he wasn't melted by chatbot memes, he took a paycheck.
The overuse of generative chatbots is certainly one of the big reasons that I decided to not continue working with Raku. I also sensed an inability to appreciate semantics without aesthetics, and to focus on presentation over substance; to me, this goes hand-in-hand with e.g. an inability to condemn DHH as an ethnonationalist, and there's philosophical reasons for that. Concretely, when I gifted a blog post to the Raku community, the published version includes a chatbot-generated hero image which has nothing to do with the topic and was generated by an LLM-addicted community member without my input or knowledge; ironically, that post was part of a challenge issued to vibecoders to demonstrate that chatbots are bad at writing code and no chatbot was able to actually generate the code in question.
What's your threat model? No matter what, hole-punching will require some sort of relay. Yggdrasil's likelier than Iroh to have available community servers if you need a hole punched in an adversarial context.
This is a System 3 engine, as are all chatbots, with no sign of System 1 anywhere.
Given that you've been spouting bigoted and cryptofascist viewpoints ever since you joined this server, I'm not surprised that you're defending DHH and trying to apologize for him by attacking anybody who points out DHH's actual views. Additionally, as far as I can tell, you're not actually part of the Free Software community; why should we care about your milquetoast half-assed apology when you're not actually one of the people doing the daily work to maintain our space and community?
The bill only covers operating systems which integrate with cloud services. The bill is designed to target what it calls "addictive" feeds and services. Linux distros don't appear to be in scope. Yet again cm0002 is demonstrating an inability to read the actual sources.
Iroh has servers too. NAT punching always requires some third party; it's not magic that can be performed from behind the NAT unilaterally by a client. Iroh's third-party servers are provided by n0, the corporation behind the protocol; Magic Wormhole's servers are provided by the developers and funded via donations.
I only happen to save ISOs if I find them on old drives during cleanup. Despite this, I do have 49 Linux ISOs and one FreeNAS ISO too. I don't have a reason to delete them; I am not short of space.
A better justification would have helped. I removed Bibles and other religious content from my setup with the justification that we don't spread ethnonationalism and the Bible is an ethnonationalist artifact.
Lojban is so much easier to speak than Esperanto! We actually recently talked in #lojban on Libera about how to pronounce the word in question and our answer is something like {fordzeiio} if one likes the slinkuui semantics or {fordzei'o} otherwise.
Don't over-focus on chess. The Lesson is that if you take two identical machine-learning labs which currently have a working model today, and ask them to come back and show you how much they improved in a year or so, the lab which forward-ports the model to newer hardware will tend to outperform the lab which tries to tweak the model to fit the problem domain more precisely. Sheer amounts of compute dominate any sort of domain-specific (here, chess-specific) knowledge. Further, there's a suggested mechanism, Moore's Law, which is tapering off now but used to be exponential; how could a polynomial amount of effort ever compete with exponentially-better new hardware?
