What do you mean "any better"? That's great.

I have a component of my job that is VR, so a part of what I do professionally requires me to stay up to speed. For years now we've been seeing this and for the love of all that is good, I've yet to meet 5 people that said they used VR in any (non required) capacity or had any desire to; so I just can't fathom why companies still pour billions in. Is this like AI trading billions between each other? Am I missing something?

But again these people can’t pay taxes, they’re job creators

I think Mark is doing everything to prove that Facebook has nothing to offer anymore.

So much money being dumped into shit that goes nowhere.

Zucc steals ideas and buys already established companies then profits off of them by siphoning ridiculous lies, shit, propaganda, surveillance and ads.

It's been his whole schtick from the start.

VR is cool but Facebook VR is a horrifying and/or boring concept

    Not shocking.

I got a headset two years ago and enjoyed it for about six months. As cool as it is, there just isn't enough good content for it to maintain a long-term strategy.

But the VR documentaries were worth every penny.

Yeah I agree. I splurged on a Valve Index a while back expecting there to be more than just Beat Saber and Pavlov, but beyond those two games (Alyx never did it for me) I haven't really seen anything that caught my interest.

We’ll see what happens with Valve‘s next headset. If anybody can create critical mass, they can - If the price point is right. If/when there’s critical mass, I’m pretty certain we’ll see a lot more developers start creating.

Didn't we just see articles last week that Meta is drastically downsizing their VR r+d to focus on AI? That alone will mean that they spend less money next year on VR.

These Sociopathic Oligarchs could give every American a million dollars, and they'd never notice it was missing, but they'd rather throw it away, than help anyone.

What The Fuck are they even spending the money on? They made a great headset (for the price) and have an app store that's bringing in ~$2 billion/year.

Given, they have an absolutely terrible, locked-down OS that gets in the way more than it helps, but it's still OK-ish enough to make loads of money.

I guess it doesn't matter, since Valve is about to take over the entire VR gaming market with the Steam Frame. A VR headset running SteamOS is just so vastly superior to the locked-down bullshit that runs on the other headsets, it's no contest.
