screenshot of text: You have been blocked from The New York Times because we suspect that you're a robot. Why am I seeing this? There are a few possibilities: You are browsing and clicking much faster than is typical of a human being Something is preventing Javascript from working on your computer There is a bot with the same IP address as you

"Something is preventing JavaScript on your computer" - that's just a sign of a security concious person.

“The tabloid’s CEO wants to sell your data but it can’t. You’re not helping.”

“What do you mean I’m not helping?”

“I mean you’re not helping Leon. Why is that?”

Blocked from NYT? Oh, darn. Anyway.

    It's just neoliberal garbage.

The problem with the NYT is that it continues to produce genuinely valuable and important journalism. But that journalism is then co-mingled with native advertising, reactionary propaganda, and imperialist propaganda to the point that it feels like I'm dumpster diving for my news.

If there was a way to subscribe to just the good stuff, they'd still receive my money. As it stands, my only real interaction with the NYT is through archived links and repost transcriptions, because I don't have the time or the energy to sift a few nuggets of silver out of that river of shit.

I was getting that with referrer spoofing enabled in uMatrix. There seems to have been a surge in sites breaking when that’s enabled.
