Yeah, sure. Why the fuck not? When your clown-car is already full to the brim, why not paint it pink with lime green polka-dots? It's not like anything could really make it noticeably worse at that point.

What a shameful shit-show. Incompetence, corruption of every conceivable kind, flagrant idiocy, balls-to-the-wall fascism, institutionalized bigotry, bellicose infantile belligerence at every turn and, perhaps worst of all, piss poor architectural choices and interior decoration.

I mean, all the other fascists at least had the testicular fortitude to stick with brutalism without diluting their brand by gluing cheap baroque knock-offs on top of top of their latest concrete monstrosity, but these utter mouth-breathers can't even manage that exceedingly low bar.

Being a filthy fascist is bad enough without also being a gauche nouveau-riche cretin.

It would maybe make more sense if this woman, Dana W. White, was the actual target? Trump probably didn't even know she existed and automatically assumed they meant the UFC dude, because he personally loves celebrities and big strong men.

Dana W. White is a communications executive and former United States government official. She was the United States Department of Defense's Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs and chief Pentagon spokesperson from April 2017 to December 31, 2018, under Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis during Donald Trump's first term.[1][2][3] She had earlier worked for the House Republican Conference, Fox News, The Heritage Foundation, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, The Wall Street Journal and the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services, and was director of policy and strategic communications for the Renault–Nissan Alliance from 2012 to 2015.[3]

Why would he publically offer him the job. You make the offer privately and if they decline, you move on. Dana already publically declined, which is a little embarrassing. Could’ve saved the embarrassment.

The apparent recommended candidate was someone with the same name from the Heritage Foundation. Trump just defaulted to the celebrity.

If he needed money, I think he would actually go for it.

I don't know the guy at all, but it would be understandable if (some) people were a little reluctant to tie their name to Trump after the disastrous midterms.

Maybe if they care about their career later on, but remember that Trump still has 2 more years (if not possibly more???) to do mostly as he wishes. Hope for better, but don't expect anything to change in the next 2 years.

In the last few months of his current term he may enact even more radical policies or push his ICE group to do what they've been doing against a wider group.

Dana White is too competent. Evidence: declining this offer.

Neither the White House Press Secretary nor the White House Chief of Staff are subject to Senate approval, so I guess if Trump decides that he doesn't like Stephen Miller as Chief of Staff or Dana White as Press Secretary (assuming that he does take the position), even after the Democrats take control of the Senate January 3, he can still fire and replace them.

He's going to be a lot more locked-in when it comes to positions subject to Senate approval. He can still fire them, but he probably won't get replacements that he likes more past a Democratic Senate, so that'll decrease his influence over his Cabinet members.

So if he's going to kick any of those people out, he probably wants to do so in the next seven-and-a-half weeks and get their replacement in. After that window closes, he's kinda stuck with them for the remainder of his term.
