Don't boo! Organize disruptive protests and force them to do what needs to be done

Later this month, the newly elected House Democrats will gather behind closed doors to anoint their candidate to run in the January election for speaker. Nobody is seen posing a serious threat to Jeffries, according to multiple Democratic aides.

This should change. I don't even know who the other options are? I saw someone (onion owner) suggest Raskin, but mostly just talk about schumer and jeffries needing to go.

Yeah, I don’t for the life of me understand why the progressive wing doesn’t just say “fuck that” and just refuse to line up behind the establishment. This is actually a perfect time for a Democratic Party schism, now that the legislature has been wrested from the fascists (I know, there’s still certification and swearing in, but I’d consider challenges in those domains to be kind of intrinsically extralegal). The DCCC old guard got us here, and it’s well past time we took away their keys and drivers license.

The large Democratic wave (spurred in no small part by the progressive wing) may actually work against them, because if the Democratic majority is really more than 40 seats (as is currently projected), then that means that they can afford to lose 20 or 30 members and still get their agenda through. So those far left politicians don't really have a lot of leverage if they want to buck the leadership.

  • Point of order:

They’re not really “far left”. In most other countries, they’d probably be considered centrist, and in some cases, center-right.

Anyways: part of what I hope happens here is that the DCCC establishment understands that they’re being put on notice, and that at least some reps accept that the political winds have materially changed.

Ugh why. Don't they need to take a vote? This is their chance to finally get rid of this garbage leadership

Yes, they vote in January after the new Congress is sworn in. What they're saying here is when they try to agree ahead of time that nobody else will run for the position in that vote, by making deals for committee assignments and shit.

I'd like to see an advocate rather than an appeaser.

So we change from Speaker Johnson (R-AIPAC) to Speaker Jeffries (D-AIPAC)? We deserve someone better than a well-spoken mushy person in that chair. Someone who is going to tear into the rot caused by the Republican complicity with traitors, not just say "we'll work for you.... eventually (believe us again)".

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... ain't going to be fooled again.

No shit. I'm writing my rep and demanding they find someone else. That secret meeting he had with Kushner tells me that he probably put his dick somewhere it didn't belong and they've got evidence on him. Hakeem will sell us out, if he hasn't already.

    Find someone else!

Now it's time to spend the next two months changing that!

This is NOT the fait accompli Reuters makes it out to be.

Oh yeah, great idea! Choose the guy who thinks republicans have learned their lesson, and won't ever go fascist again. There's no reason to hold them accountable for their crimes.

This guy is a fucking collaborator. Nothing is going to change as long as the democratic leadership are paid by the same people as republicans. They're controlled opposition, and they're traitors to the people.

  • Where's /u/givessomefucks to tell us that the Democratic party is completely reformed from elections past and isn't being controlled by the same status-quo liberals who put Donald Trump in the White House?
