I know this is the hot thing right now all over the internet, but I think it was mostly taken out of context. That podcast that Sam Altman did, he was talking about people running local models on their computers. It wasn't him saying nobody should have RAM or whatever hyperbole it's ballooned into. With that said, as someone that runs local models, I disagree with him regardless.

Don't multi-thread on me

We're gonna need you to undergo a background check before you're allowed to purchase that military-grade hardware to make sure you're not a convicted hacker. Also, there's a mandatory 72-hour "cooling off" period. Oh, and you can only have up to 8 GB, any more than that and it’s an "assault computer" which is only good for hacking and encrypting child porn.

Just some common sense RAM control for the greater good.
