It's so weird that this admin has me feeling sorry for TSA agents

After the plethora of stories about their shitty behaviour, I'm absolutely cackling.

GoodTimesWithScar got harassed by some cunt calling his fucking wheelchair a security threat. They can all eat shit.

Apparently occupational health and safety is a seldom considered concept in US

I remember about 10 years ago when I worked for Sam's Club/Walmart, and we had a very old retiree required to bring in a doctor's note saying he needed a chair when checking people at the doors.

I thought it was absolutely ridiculous.

Doctors have better things to do than writing notes for asanine things like the cold that requires you to be more than 3 days sick. its pretty ridiculous.

Yep, exactly. Which is always why I take the side of the patient in these things.

You won’t let my patient call in a day over a cold? Ok, well it’s a 10 day illness, how does a week off sound? You don’t want that much off? Ok, when’s your next scheduled day off: here’s a long weekend.

My dude with chronic pain needs to be able to switch from sitting to standing as needed, can’t lift more than 10 lbs, needs to take unscheduled breaks as needed, can call out up to 3x/week, and can’t work more than 8 hours a day. Maybe you should have just gotten them the chair?

People tend to underestimate what their actual limitations should be with their medical conditions, so I’m usually putting more restrictions than they actually ask for.

If I was a doctor in the US and be tempted to set up aside business where I wrote doctors notes for whatever ailment the request claim to have.

To you whoever it may concern,

INSERT NAME HERE has chronic INSERT AILMENT resulting in his/her (delete whichever is inappropriate) inability to perform tasks such as ANYTHING AT ALL and BONUS THING YOU ALSO DON'T WANT TO DO. Provided reasonable adjustments are made INSERT NAME HERE will be able to perform their duties without issue.

Sincerely Dr INSERT DOCTOR SOUNDING NAME HERE BSC SCC Esquire

That's just absurd. So many employers in this country do that shit, and it makes NO sense! There's no benefit!

Also, TSA agents already have a reputation for being cranky jerks. I imagine it's a lot worse when they're forced to be on their feet nonstop the whole shift.

    "BuT iT lOoKs UnPrOfEsSiOnAl"

That's the whole reason. Even though no one actually gives a shit except for some boomers who can't be happy unless someone is suffering for them.

I've never seen a GenZ manager give a shit about sitting down. Most millennials don't either. The only ones I've seen who do are from some kind of generational trauma passed on as "traditional".

Pretty sure there are petty tyrants in every generation, at the very least cops, but I was getting at the fact it's not for boomer pleasure. It's because someone in the hierarchy decided it was a good idea, probably to indulge their power fantasies, manager, manager's manager etc.

That'll stop those terrorists. Everyone knows that sitting down is the first step on the pathway to radicalization.

What is the business reason for this? How does sitting impact their duties?

  • Seems like the next step should be both the agent and person being screened should do calisthenics during.

Free market will solve it, right?

You bet your ass it will. Queue: TSA agents quit, now some unregulated, insecure face recognition AI chucklefuck has a justification to insert themselves as the new ID system. Free market takes another step into the surveillance capitalism wet dream, and anyone with a little cash or a mediocre cyber intelligence team has a backdoor to your whole life.

    Problem solved.

im thinking since its under DHS? they want the ICE people to take over, because they know ICE will eventually get defunded by a DEM down the line, or enforcing stricter employment measures since most of the current ice is bottom of the barrel people. this is a way to placate the conservatives who got displace job wise.

It is like an evolution. Sitting, then Standing. Then "Pick up that can".
