I have a theory that, as the "unfunny number" sandwiched between two other funny numbers, 68 will eventually become funny simply by association. Or through memes like this which point this out.

....and we all fell down and were at sixes and sevens (meaning to be confused, dating back to Chaucer in 1374).

68 became the unfunny number despite not doing anything, this is sad

meanwhile in my environment 68 became funny by a joke when we were teenagers (at first I thought 67 was another spin on this):

"you give me a bl*wjob and I owe you one"
