there is a pilot version of the movie and it is somewhat different because it establishes things to come but resolves absolutely nothing - the movie version took the most complete narrative strands and tied them up while dropping or non sequitiring the rest in-between. The pilot version just keeps on building and building and building and then it's over and it's just this massive overwhelming mystery thing that will never come to resolution.
