The only software that is acceptable to run as SaaS is email, rest should be either self hosted or not ran at all. And even email should be chosen wisely - I've has good experience with Tuta, as their emails are encrypted, that's why you can't use a desktop client, unless you find a way to decrypt these malls yourself via some kind of automation.
