It's all well and good until some doetress gets photographed eating a baby rabbit. 🤫

Don't get me wrong, it's natural and happens all the time to fend off starvation (or, they're bored), but the general image of deer* is far more Disneyfied. 😅

*from the old Sami/Laplander word for "animal", btw 😜

Herbivores in general, actually. I once read a scientific paper where the study was meant to observe wolves in the Canadian winter which accidentally found rabbits (or maybe hares?) coming to the bird carcasses they set out for bait to eat.

Heck, the difference between herbivores and carnivores is mostly about their lifestyle and adaptations

Fun fact: Brown Bears are the least meat-eating carnivorous animal (hypocarnivore, with meat being about 30% of their diet)

Other fun fact: Polar Bears are the most meat-eating carnivorous animal (hypercarnivore, with meat being about 90-100% of their diet)

  • Yuuup. Critters gonna critter. "Herbivore", "carnivore", all of it: human sounds declaring observed patterns that allegedly indicate predilection/tendency, as usual. In short, mostly true often enough, but far less often as it implies.
