Sad thing is, it's kind of true (or at least was). In a two party system, its not a bad strategy to try gain electors from the other party, as the ppl more radically from your side will vote for you rather than the other party. Now then, the political spectrum and Overton window shifted so much to the right that it is not sufficient to just exist and be the "lesser evil".

Its not. In a 2-party system, the parties geneally move to equalize around a 50-50 split of the population. However, in a country where around half the eligiable voters show up, voter turnout is a much bigger lever to pull. Obama and Trump both figured that out. Alienating your base is the opposite of smart.

No. It's literally a bad strategy. Elections are about to turn out. The best way to win elections is to get your base to come out to vote. When you literally threaten their lives and threaten the lives of people they care about they're going to stay home.

You know why you preach to the choir? Because that's how you get them to sing.

It depends on how they gain people from the other party. The Democrats could gain them by giving them better health-care, or fewer wars, or by making the rich pay taxes, or by providing affordable housing, or by improving their jobs.

But the Democrat strategy is to gain them by supporting genocide, and attacking marginalized groups.
