The political economy is granted without reservation. The disagreement is about sufficiency rather than accuracy. Historical materialism addresses how existing beings are organised and governed. The antinatalist question is at the level of ontology: whether beings should be instantiated at all. Take the best outcome the Marxist project could deliver: no exploitation, equitable distribution, genuine flourishing. Everyone born into it would still suffer biological degradation, lose the people they love, die, and have been created without their consent. The urgency of the Marxist critique rests on the same recognition that drives antinatalism: beings are harmed by conditions imposed on them without consent. Antinatalism extends that recognition one step further, from political organisation to biological instantiation.
