He means more to me than I thought.

I was raised in an abusive home, and Star Trek TNG was one of my few escapes. I remember wanting to be like Captain Picard when I grew up. Confident, kind, direct, capable, and loving.

I don't know if I'm there yet. But I'm trying.

I already miss you. So very much.

Would you mind sharing what he meant/means to you? I think reading your words will help.

I just started to get into Star Trek in 2024, right after our union won recognition, because a coworker recommended that I watch Bar Association. Needless to say I fell in love with the franchise, and started watching the other shows.

In December of 2024 I was illegally fired, allegedly for "professional misconduct". Around the same time, I started to watch TNG. The show prevented me from having a mental health crisis much sooner than it would have otherwise occurred, and helped me recover afterwards.

Sir Patrick Stewart was the light of wisdom for my ideals during this period. He didn't necessarily save my life, but he saved my soul. In August, I lost my ULP. A song in TNG echoed in my head then as it does now:

"Land of Song!" said the warrior bard,

"Tho' all the world betrays thee,

One sword at least, thy rights shall guard,

One faithful harp shall praise thee!"
