[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 week ago (6 children) According to a colleague of mine, that is communism. Yes, I know. 🤦🏻♀️ permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] spectrums_coherence@piefed.social 10 points 1 week ago (5 children) That is socialism, but close enough 😆 permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 5 child comments replies: [–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children) You should have a chat with my colleague. He says that socialism is a stepping stone toward the end goal: communism. I say “that’s not how this works”. He digs in deeper. I should clarify: His position is that socialism is communism; that there is no difference. He claims, without proof, that the goal of the DSA is to make the US communist. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 3 child comments replies: [–] OilyArena@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 week ago I mean your colleague is totally right, Socialism is the transitional stage on societies' way to a classless society, Communism. permalink fedilink source parent [–] jtrek@startrek.website 4 points 1 week ago Does your colleague have a solid definition of capitalism, communism, and socialism? Stuff like "there are several organizations competing to sell you widgets but the organizations are owned by the workers instead of some faceless ghouls and far-away shareholders" sometimes doesn't fit neatly into their model. It can be an entry point into left wing thinking, because a lot of people resent management and other useless authorities. permalink fedilink source parent [–] XiJinpingStanAccount@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago This is a joke right? permalink fedilink source parent [–] Edgarallenpwn@midwest.social 2 points 1 week ago My FIL has gotten to the point where anything he doesn't agree with is SocialistCommunist. Not two separate things, just a mushed together word. permalink fedilink source parent
