Why are you randomly murdering animals you do not plan on eating? Your cat has instincts to kill so they get a pass but what is your excuse?

Do you not get that killing a seagull like this is not a good thing?

I would argue the moment of anger bit wasn't valid or rational.

I don't think you should be giving anyone advice.

“ I live in the French equivalent of NYC rat wise and trust me, either my cat or I get rid of the pests quickly. “

That’s the part Im addressing with my comment about random killing. I’m not talking about the article.

That entirely depends on why you are killing these animals. If you are just killing rats or seagulls outside your home, that is random killing.

What do you think random means? Dude's not just walking around punching any bird he sees. There was a very clear cause and effect.

So, the French person has pests in their home, and they and their cat are targeting those pests.

The guy with food in his hand was having that food stolen by a pest, and he exterminated that pest.

Those both really fit your criteria for pests. Gull guy did not target the bird because he saw it on the street, but because it was directly threatening his food.

Would you like it if someone grabbed you by your feet and killed you by swinging you into a wall? What the fuck is wrong with you?

What kind of childhood did you have where you think it's normal to mug people as a teenager?

Either. That's honestly pretty fucked up, in my opinion.

No, not as fucked up as threatening or robbing people. Stupid, sure, but not criminal to the point where you'd need to go before a judge. Are you actually imagining that such behavior would be normal?

Feeling bad for a winged rat?

This is no about the seagull, it is about actions of this psycho. Swinging into wall? In front of children? Really?

I assumed the dude grabbed it as it was flying out with the chip and just slammed it quickly without much thought. He might have a horrible day/week, just wanted to have some chippies and this happened. Meh. 🤷

What about a person who works in a meat processing plant?

    What about them?

Killing hundreds of chickens a day.

    Yes, for food.

    Are they a psychopath?

Why would they be a psychopath?

I called him a psycho, yes. He did kill for revenge, not for food. And in front of children.

I don't have any issues with killing for food and I love a good steak.Killing as pests eradication is also OK before you ask. This was neither though.

I am not ok with either. I wouldn't kill either.

Pest control works differently. You are trying to kill as many individuals in a very short time span to cripple the population growth. Even if seagulls were classed as pest, killing one has nothing to do with pest control.

If the population was two rats? Absolutely. 100 rats? No.

If there were two and you have killed both that's also pest control. If there were hundred and you killed two - not really.

Pests control objectives are either to

    • not allow the population to to grow or
    • reduce the overall population or
    • eradicate the population

Killing one seagull or rat if there is hundreds of them in some area achieves neither of the three and is therefore not a pest control even if seagulls were classed as pests.

Furthermore killing an animal by smashing it against a wall in front of children may mean that this person has either psychopathic or sociopathic tendencies. Thus, fucking psycho.

If you have no empathy for animals just trying to do their thing, that is a good indicator that you'll lack empathy for people as well.

If his day is ruined by losing a bit of food, he needs to find someone to talk to about mental health. No one should be that close to the edge of violent response.

Not vegan, vegetarian, or even uncommonly attached to animals. But you are a disgusting person. Rats are great. Rats with wings are pretty cool too. Killing stuff that inconveniences you is psychotic behaviour. Simple as.
