Overall solid meme content, but when when I lived in a rural area cars where what let us connect with the community because we were so spread out. When living in the city I was less connected to the community because I disliked my neighbors...

@spankmonkey @Davriellelouna That is true, but how many people live in such communities? 1%?Besides, the main problem are cars in the cities, not some farm trucks that barely see any asphalt.

Between 20-30% of Americans love outside metropolitan areas. The current car centric system honestly works great in agricultural communities, just not for the rest of us.

Exactly! Different tools for different areas.

When I go to conferences in cities I always use the public transportation when I'm not walking. Subways and light rail are the bomb. Wish more of the smaller cities had better bus and light rail as well, but when you get to the sticks it is just a different setting with different needs.

There are ways to use other less violent transportation methods. I have lived in places that barely had roads. Im jot sone life long city mouse.

And this was in california, so it wasn't flat.

This "rural needs cars" bullshit is delusional and disingenuous. Please stop, if you're not a paid fucking shill.

I don't think you're referring to the same kind of ruralness as the op.

If you've seen the rural areas of the midwest its literally acres of fields, one farmhouse and its accompanying sheds/silos/whatever, and then more vast area of field or wilderness

Like this. There's some decently rural parts of california, but honestly they aren't even close to the midwest levels of ruralness.

    nothing like that in california

Maybe not south of sacramento, if desert doesn't count.

We do in fact have woods and undeveloped areas here. Some of the woods get pretty deep.

Hmm yea the forest areas are a certain kind of ruralness. Honestly I forget we have forests out in cali, socal is like all dry or beach, and norcal is either dead grass as well or coastal areas like half moon bay and sf.
