To be fair this is not an initiative brought by representatives. All one has to do to get a question into the ballot in MA is to collect enough signatures. There were some accusations of shady stuff going on during signature collection though. Some that people thought they were signing a ballot measure on something else.

As Americans struggle to get by, this is what their representatives are focused on

Not a ballot measure on stopping AI data centers or the overreach of the police surveillance state

No the real issue to be put to the the ballot is whether they should take away your marijuana and capture more people for the for profit prison labor camps

It's federally legal under the 2018 farm Bill in all but a handful of states that have specifically outlawed it. There are many many farms and online vendors who ship it to your mailbox.

its because it's easy to deinstitutionalize yourself while on it. I never did it, but I did something similar appreciating art and media created by people who used it.

If the drug war was suppose to help people, we would have social workers and public hospitals out the ass instead of police and just growing a psychoactive plant in a planted on your balcony wouldn't be illegal.

LSD isn't really necessary to realize society is fake and bullshit at the same time. You just need to consume works of art like books and artistic movies to realize we're all just organizing around structures that don't actually serve us and just serves the most powerful people.

Cannabis was mostly indigenous to south Asia. Some probably traveled through trade routes, but for something coming from the other side of the Himalayas to be "integrated in daily life" is a bit of a stretch.

Rescheduling doesn't make it federally legal. I'm not sure why they think it can be both illegal and taxable. I mean, you're already supposed to be claiming income from illegal activities.

My conspiracy theory is that the money groups like it pseudo legal. It keeps prices high, so the people who greased politicians hands to get state restricted licenses get to make money hand over fist.

It's pseudo legal status is also great for politicians. Not only do they get this perpetual carrot to dangle over the electorate, they can milk money from both the Cannabis lobby and the Alcohol and Pharma lobbys by making promises to do slight tweaks to legislation.
