Update on my Farm (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 month ago by to c/stardewvalley@lemmy.ml

I posted about the farm I'm using to get through depression and I wanted to do an update post too. It's year 2 fall and I've had a lot of weird luck with this play through.

I've had at 4 fairies visit, completed the community center, unlocked all the mastery levels, got ginger island up with a huge amount of pineapples growing, and fully upgraded the galaxy sword. I know it's not a rush for this stuff, but I've put in 1100 hours into the game and have a hard time taking it slow when I know what I 'should' be focusing on to progress.

As far as mental health goes: Prior to playing this I have had a hard time getting myself to cry although I've been needing a good sob for a while now. I finally had a breakdown and have cried several times, which felt like a necessary release of all the pent up feelings I've had.

I'm not sure how much longer I'll play before I decide I'm finished with the playthrough. I've already 100%'d two other farms so I don't think I'll attempt that again.

Bonus: Krobus is my roomie

I've played stardew since 2018 and recently I've created a new farm about every year (usually in the fall). I often get something different out of each playthrough, but this time I'm explicitly trying to get myself out of a depressive funk I'm stuck in.

I chose the fishing farm because it's one I've only done once before and it can be fun to have islands for different parts of the farm. Does anyone else use SDV as a mental health resource? I often joke that it's like cheap therapy for me.

---Update--- I've been having a great time with this playthrough. I got an early ancient seed and thought this coincidence that I matched this junimo was adorable

Any suggestions for me? I started with the default farm.

I want to see some order and structure here really. Right now I'm focusing on community center, but god do I hate how unorganized this farm looks.

The sections have been labelled pretty aptly. I've made some good progress on the community center, but I guess it's at the expense of my own farm.

I really just want a good looking and all-rounder kind of farm :sob:

Happy to answer any questions you ask. The image is kinda low-res because I wasn't able to upload a larger one. How do people recommend I divvy the map up for sections and such?

Thanks again!

somemany should make an HRT mod for Stardew Valley. Make it available in Harvey's clinic, and have it be free and part of healthcare.

In the base game, you need to get 4 friendship hearts with the wizard, and it's quite obscure, and not immediately available.

also, have queer couples, so players do know that they can marry anyone as any gender. Someone once reffered to this with a particular term, basically the concept of "hiding queer stuff to the side to appeal to heteronormative stuff"

Tired of scrambling to till, water, fertilize, and plant several hundred crops on the first day of every season? You don't have to! You can achieve your farm's maximum efficiency while delaying planting certain crops by several days.

This might be relatively niche. I like to grow some of every available crop every season, devoting at least half a pressurized iridium sprinkler to each one. But I also don't like farming until 2 AM and passing out before I finish planting. So I made this spreadsheet!

It accounts for every combination of speed growth modifiers, lists the maximum number of harvests for each crop, per plot, per season/year, and lists the last day you can plant to still achieve that maximum harvest. Hopefully someone somewhere can gain some value from this
