As titled! Please post at https://lemmy.ca/c/maplemusic@piefed.ca instead. Piefed is just as Canadian as Lemmy.ca. Owned and operated by the same people who do lemmy.ca actually.

Whats the difference? Moderation tools and other features! Something to just make our life a bit easier and help us while growing the community. We figured this would be a move better done earlier in the communities life. Functionally, there should be no difference in your preferred viewing experience other than the community being hosted elsewhere. You can view the piefed community from lemmy.ca (or whichever way you view the fediverse) just as you were before.

This community will eventually be deleted so there is no duplicate maple music communities across the fediverse, leaving only the piefed.ca community.

Some new meaty goodness from the Hammer (Hamilton, ON)!

Stoked this is released, been sitting on a demo tape with this track that's been stuck in my tape player for a year or two now :)

Obligatory "Hey guys they're gonna be at House of Targ in Ottawa with B.A. Johnston and Thunderkok on April 4th, tix at the door, $10 before 9 PM and $15 after, if you live here you should go :)"

Some Jazz Fusion out of Ottawa, ON! Nice dudes too, though I haven't had any conversations with the lead guitarist I can recall. FFO Casiopea and such.

[blatant Ottawa music scene shilling] They are also playing a release show for their third album, which includes this track, at Rainbow Bistro this Friday (March 27th). They're a lot of fun live! Tickets here:https://therainbow.ca/event/6408742/749529994/finely-tuned-elephant-no-goats-album-release-party [/shilling]

A little metal from the city of the newly wed and nearly dead (Victoria BC).

Defunct (?) band from Ottawa, ON. Labelling as psych rock in lieu of a more accurate genre label (I don't know these things very well, definitely a softer, hazier psych/stoner feel).

Just a couple of Kingston, ON guys that seem to be having a moment right now. They're going on tour in Canada and the UK in 2026, if you dig them you should check them out! Show listings at following: https://kasadorband.com/pages/shows

Anyone else fondly remember music video's? This was quite a cool song back in the day...at least IMO. I think these guys were out of Toronto maybe.

The Band is a Canadian-American classic rock band that formed in 1968, but the members had a history of playing together as early as the 1950s. With the Canadian members being from Toronto and the American vocalist being from Woodstock, New York, the group made a truly timeless and iconic version of rock that has strong roots in classic rock, Americana, folk, R&B, jazz, and country. The Band played together with members coming and going from 1968 to as far as 1999, but their prime was in the 70s and 80s.

To this day, The Band is immensely popular and has influenced music in Canada, America, and globally. They still get nearly 3 million monthly listens on Spotify, with the majority of listeners coming from New York City, Chicago, and Toronto.

I figured this song would be most fitting for me as I just scored my first union job! I don't want to doxx myself, but it is a sight for sore eyes, even with its blemishes, compared to lots of the jobs I've worked where I've had no protection and few rights.

Emma Alves is an "experimental R&B" artist from Vancouver, Canada

I like her calm sleepy style. The song 'The Gardener' is new to me, and the other songs from the album have been out for a few weeks. I may have posted about them in the past.
