A lot of people recommend https://mapy.com/
lol so no list then. Alrighty. For anyone else coming here, don’t use caltopo. This person is most likely working for them. Unable to give a list of reasons why you should use the application, blocks people who ask why, and thinks that free apps that need no login are worse.
Catch my block list. ✌️
Not gonna keep people in my feed that just complain for the sake of being contrarian. Have fun with your shitty app.
Then list the things that are better. It’s pretty clear you are just acting out incredibly emotionally for zero reason than to defend what you think is the better app. If it’s actually better you should have a list of reasons.
Yes I tried it, it is hot garbage next to caltopo. You're making comparative presumptions against something you refuse to try. I will not take anything you say about the matter seriously.
So did you try it? Like I said, not going to create a sign up to test all of these, whereas the Colorado app is completely free no sign in needed
I bet
🙄
It is not even close.
Caltopo is by far superior.
Caltopo is truly the best for building your own route. Then I typically export gpx to my geocaching phone app (c:geo)
Immediate login window on open? Hmm I’d rather not. Unlikely that you live in Colorado but you can compare the apps, try COTrex, I bet it’s better than caltopo.
CoTrex for Colorado is essentially all you could ever ask for in a map software. You can make any arbitrary route, even one across a mountain with no paths, easy to share exact coordinates, easy to see what paths can be used for, easy to see topo. Etc
Alltrails to find popular trails
Caltopo to build my own.
Caltopo is the best.
CoMaps is a fantastic resource
Oh you are right, Komoot is quite nice!
Up until they got bought and ruined, the hiking project was my favorite. So now I’m using Komoot (iOS). No issues so far but it’s been 2 weeks.
Pretty much, yes. What's missing is food and some minor things like gloves. The rest is there: tarp and sleeping bag for sleeping, gas stove for cooking and all the layers of clothes (base layer, mid, wind stopper, dawn jacket, raincoat). Other things change depending on the hike.
Lower right corner. I just use a ziplock bag with some bandages, gaze, basic medicine, emergency blanket and so on.
Where's the medkit?
I've never done a multiple day hike so I guess this is what it'd look like? It seems very complete
In this setup about 7kg.
How much does your pack weigh?
I bought the digital pass to avoid seeing thst ugly mug, but they added his picture for some reason under the pass in in the digital version for no reason. At least you have to slide down to see it so you dont normally see it.
I miss the beautiful wildlife on the passes, will go back to physical version when they go back.to that.
Where you headed?
Cool love to check it out someday.
@Fredselfish northern Italy, the Dolomites are located in north-east
