I happened upon this thread via hopping around, I remembered that you got misgendered by PugJesus. Here he is being sexist to Diva, then doubling down, in this thread 6 months ago.

Sorry to necro, just thought you could use it for more proof that PJ is deeply unserious as a person. And that goat said misgendering is only a weapon to silence those who question others. Wonder why these people are called fascists...

That post is about you banning every user from dbzer0 simply based on their instance from !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works, while also pretending that that community is supposedly open for everyone to discuss their perspectives

Tankies never venture into this community, despite this being a place where they can freely discuss their viewpoints.

How is it supposed to be possible when people get banned just for their instance as seen in the OP

Ironic that this is usually the type of blocking that is criticized on MoG

.ml actually has this comm instance-blocked LMAO

The user you refer to is a 5 months old account with 46 comments whose recent comments criticize Blahaj's moderation. An account that recent with so few comments shouldn't be involved mostly in moderation criticisms, this seems to be an alt that got previously banned from that community. On top of that, calling db0 a tankie sympathizer is obviously going to get this kind of reactions.

Yeah mate, I’m a “tankie sympathizer” who made an instance with an explicit anti-tankie rule. I’m playing 4d chess. Fuck outa here.

I'm in the same boat. As someone who pretty much entirely avoids toxic subs and stays away from news and politics for the most part I used this place as a sort of "Out Of The Loop" for the Fediverse.

At the same time I understand the reasoning behind the closure.

It's had its heyday. Lemmy.ca was a great neutral ground to discuss happening on other servers, but I'm pretty sure the drama was supposed to just be talked about from an observation standpoint, instead of being re-litigated in the fediloredrama thread. I think too many threads devolved into that leading to its downfall.

I never envied anyone having to moderate this community though.

I get it but it's a little disappointing. This kind of comm seemed only two skips removed from lolcow content. On the other hand, it helped me get the lay of the land as a new user who isn't even certain what instance I belong on. Also, I built a pretty comprehensive user block list just by browsing the posts and seeing what kind of interactions I would like to not have. It also kind of shines a mirror on me and shows me ways I should avoid acting.

But, the premise is just bad so I can't really say I blame y'all for dropping it. People shouldn't have Lore.

It baffles me why Davel thought I was a recurring troll, and then had to unban me just to ban me again so that I appeared at the top of the modlogs. Does he genuinely think I'm any of those users, or is this a game of satisfaction to him as this would imply?

A lot of the reports are from people who are arguing in the thread, and then reporting the comments of the other person. Some are related to previous issues outside the thread/community, often related to things that I don't have the context of. The reports rarely relate to the community rules, despite a lot of the content in this community clearly violating the rules in this community's sidebar.

That's a celebrity. Nobody cares if you're an average person and not too loud. Although the list of celebrities on the Wikipedia list of banned people from China seems to be people who did/said stuff while in China, often to an audience.

You'd be surprised. Any time some famous YouTube host says anything about Tiananmen Square, there's almost always an obligatory drama queen remark about being banned from China the moment it gets uploaded (I say "drama queen remark" because I would be surprised if anyone would actually want to go to China aside from seeing the great wall and marking it off a bucket list of every nation that ever existed).
