Completely ignoring the point of the story, I'd be asking why it costs $700 million to maintain and repair parks. Are they putting in data centers instead of soccer fields? Or, are they, like so many other US governments, being forced to use contractors whose costs balloon to ridiculous amounts over time and everyone just treats it as normal?

Cleaning up and maintaining already built structures isn’t sexy, and doesn’t get the attention of the upper class. Why would they support anything unless they can get their name on it.

Musk predicted months ago that Tesla would "have autonomous ride-hailing in about half the population of the US by the end of the year."

Even if they had that kind of outrageous capacity, he figured (aka lied) that many people would be willing to ride in an autonomous swasticar by the end of this year? Or, he meant at a later year? On that note, I wonder what the ratio of the U.S. population is to nazi bars.

Oh, the federal government is interested in guns now? Maybe they should pass some laws making them harder to get?

And, by the way, crime rates are notoriously more about reporting than actual crime rates. Reported rape rates going up is a GOOD thing if it means more women are coming forward.

Cool cool cool… When I was in Houston, let me tell you, I loved all the extra commercials for energy providers. I loved never knowing I was getting a competitive rate. And I especially loved that any profits they saw between the rate they sold me and the rate they bought from the actual energy producer went into share holders hands instead of city services. That was so cool!

Idk which lobby group paid for this proposal, but how about we keep essential utility in local government hands. If Austin didn’t want it, Austin would vote it out. Small government, that’s the motto right?

This is crazy. He was a big deal around here. I took a class with him and went to the capital factory many times. We weren’t friends or anything, but I definitely knew him.
