Oh my sweet summer child.
Europe is the same shithole in that regard, only leaner.

We should better start thinking about how to stop it because this stuff is coming and fast.
Get the fuck back to work, fuckos.
the best system possible folks
Late stage capitalism and far right extremism are on the rise there too.
And all to keep the imaginary line going up for a couple thousand billionaires and literally nothing else.
i think that fact that most of us are aware that we're doing this, but doing it anyways because of generation brainworms given to us by almost a century's worth of efforts like COINTELPRO is worse -- we know the problem, but we refuse to fix it no matter how much pain it's causing us.
Glad I live in Europe D:
Yep humans being automatically born with sin, evil until you grovel enough
If you read the bible closely, it's always God punishing the innocent.
My dad died in May. He was driving for DoorDash up until 3 months before his death. He had his own roofing company for 60 years but it declined after 2008 because people didn't have money to spend like they did after Dubya let Wall Street permanently kill people's spending power, but he made it work until he physically couldn't work anymore.
I don't understand how anyone can be patriotic in this country. Most of us, even if we're surviving, can't afford the lives we enjoyed just five years ago. I imagine most of us are doing our best to float our elderly parents too.
And all to keep the imaginary line going up for a couple thousand billionaires and literally nothing else.
Oh hey! That's me in the future, except worse! That's me... and probably a lot of people in the future, except worse...
Does he have to update his transition plan daily?
Well, except that what counts as a "sin" is rather extreme
In hell you're supposed to be punished for your sins. This is in some way worse.
And earn 40% less so far as purchasing power
This is why I have an email alias, mail folders, and inbox rules specifically for job hunting.
My dad would hate the shit we have now, but I’m thankful for what he taught me. I still feel lucky to have experienced the internet in its best form. My first internet provider was Prodigy.
i envy you for your dad. mine was convinced that the computer would rot my brain. lol
edit: now that i think of it, i think he was right. lmao
I followed kind of a similar path. I didn’t go to school or anything for programming. It was my natural learning path from the graphic design field after seeing how web development was blowing up. On top of that, my dad was an MS-DOS nerd, so he had me navigating a terminal when I was like 12. So I never needed hand-holding at jobs. I was definitely underpaid for quite a while before I started connecting more and more with others in the field.
Wealth? I'll accumulate sufficient weapons.
The one delivering my booth will the first to go.
Invest in disasters. Find an easily preventable disaster that we know is gonna happen at some point, and invest in the types of companies that clean up damages caused by said disaster.
same here on all accounts except it's been 22 years for me and the knowledge that my autism scares off most employers makes me aware that it won't be my choice that this is my last tech job.
Mostly because I got into the field early ..
i'm convinced that's how i got started in the first place -- i didn't have the education or experience, but i knew how to recompile a kernel and knew what bash was so i got hired at a time when there was a deep enough labor shortage for people in the field. it makes me feel sorry for the people graduating today since the fields are so saturated today.
the funniest/worst part is that i was a software engineer for over 10 years of it -- but kept earning and IT salary because of my lack of experience. so i could have been well off enough to survive my 50's+ years if someone had just told me or if levels.fyi had existed sooner. lol
I’m in tech myself and somehow still employed. Mostly because I got into the field early and have like 18+ years under my belt. I have friends that have since left the field entirely and this feels like it will be my last tech job.
i had this realization a while ago and it made me chose a union shop because of it -- it's probably the closest i'm going to get to retirement.
Which passive income, as growth has ended, and we're in contraction?
