The week has started and so has work. I have to be cautious with my hand this week as the pins inserted to hold the bones together are starting to rupture through the skin, and once that begins, we may need to remove the pins before the bones have healed.

It's a real downer waking up every day to some new attack on an outgunned segment of our population. If they're not fucking the kids, they're profiting from them. Or killing them. Guess it depends on the day.

Terrifying birds. Nothing in media or zoos can prepare you for a close overhead swoop as it lands on the lowest branch of a nearby tree... maybe 8 feet from the Earth's surface. Polarizing. I was left in awe and fearing for my life.

They're just getting his pedophilia prerequisites out of the way before he runs for office. Hype-up republican voters with his star power and insatiable thirst for children.

In my late 40s, hippie speed balls every morning. Bad(?) habit I picked up (again) within the past five years. Like a few other have said, it really levels me out, giving me the ability to fine tune my focus first thing in the morning. The absurdities at work nearly require marijuana consumption. Being a midday slug has been the only downside.

First step to replacing all your faucets. Then, if you're curiously confident like me, you move to more advance plumbing projects, like replacing a shallow kitchen sink with a deeper sink not taking into consideration the size of the garbage disposal, the need to rework most of the under sink plumbing, and... oh but first I have cut the hole in the counter another 1/4" before I even begin to tackle any of that. There's no god.

    Turned out nice.

This lil 9 week old guy adopted us 4 weeks ago. Showed up on our doorstep, crying and scared. He took to us immediately, and because of an impossibly dumb rule I made years ago, he now lives with us permanently. We named him Critter, and according to the vet (and the size of his paws), he's expected to reach the 17-18 lb range. He has become incredibly affectionate, and being my first ever pet (in my late 40s), I can't get over just how much joy he brings us. I'm in love.

I have yet to upload it anywhere, but one of our cameras captured a rather remarkable moment when Critter made his move to join our little family of two.

Anywho, new to the world of cats, and so far it has been the most rewarding and fascinating experience of my recent life. Hope to share more of Critter's future with the community.

I work in higher ed. Upon the last big promotion cycle, I was passed over for a Director position. This position was instead given to a less tenured person with only a high school education. No certs, just the best friend of the boss. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here with three degrees, enrolled in a PhD program at the higher ed institution I work at. 🧐 Higher education not valuing the higher education of their employees. Doomed.
