I was between CachyOS and Bazzite and decided for Bazzite for being a more stable and hassle free OS from what I read, because it's not a rolling distro with frequent updates that may break something. I went all in, deleting my Windows partition and am pretty happy with it ao far. I do have Affinity and Concepts that are windows only and I'm using VirtualBox for those.

I'm assuming you're not rich, so the first thing is: get a job. Start to work and saving what you can. It's important to keep moving to keep the inertia going and not stall in a place where you're completely broke.

What job? Whatever. Do Uber. Do McDonalds. Look for something. Get experience. Forget about dreams. They are useless and overrated. In the process of doing jobs, be curious. Spend the energy you would spend on dreaming into observing. You will find quickly what you like and what you hate. If the job is not for you get out and find another one. Go towards things you like, feel comfortable and feel capable doing.

While doing it ask yourself "What's next?", followed by "How?". I'm working in car shop cleaning and organizing, what's next? Fixing cars looks interesting, maybe I should try that? How? I'll try to learn from these guys and do courses. What's next? I may get a job fixing cars. Great, I know how to fix cars, they hired me and I like it. What's next? Maybe having my own shop? How? You get the idea.

Keep a diary. It's hard because it feels ridiculous. Like a teenager rambling about feelings. I still hate doing it to this day, and I'm 50. But it gives me insights about things I'm doing, because it helps you to see patterns in your behaviour. Like quitting when things were too hard to do because the noise in my head was unbearable and I had this depression that would not quit and I felt I as an alien around people and maybe I should do therapy and HOLY FUCK I'm autistic and that's why EVERYTHING was so hard. The knowledge you may gain doing a diary is unvaluable. Do it the way you feel comfortable (or less painful) to do - physical notebook, computer, tablet, whatever.

In short: keep on moving, be curious, be self-reflective.

That's all what I have for now, good luck!

After seeing how some autistic friends interact with Gemini and ChatGPT, something clicked. These tools made them able to be more empathetic at work, and one even managed to be promoted thanks to his "ability to show a fast growth in the office" by helping him navigate through office politics. The bot is like a personal coach over their shoulders all the time, explaing what people really meant with the messages they receive, and helping them to soften the blow of their data driven, rutheless factual observations and arguments, adjusting their responses into something more palatable to their bosses. One of my friends said he tells everything that happened at the work after he clocks off, and asks for insights, saying that it helped him to understand how to act in that ambient and reducing the anxiety of having to guess what the correct behaviour should be.

I see your point, but I'm not thinking just about the end but the middle: the things that happens in between for the product to arrive at the hands of the user. A cartel has massive power doing drug deals, and uses violence to assert its control over the market. The same happened in the prohibition era with alcohol. Wouldn't the same happen with gun prohibition?

The only way for it to never bother you is to pay someone to do your laundry. Other than that it's a chore that will always be there no matter what. You can also have a deal with your partner, make her/him do the laundry and you take care or something else.

I cannot wrap my head around the economics of the ad industry. They work to make your life worse in the most obnoxious and disgusting ways possible, and they - and any brand that works with then by association - are hated and reviled by that. Yet, it makes BILLIONS and companies spend billions on it, even if you seriously piss off your potential clients doing that (BMW's Spiderman ads, for example).

    I don't get it.

EDIT: just to clarify, I don't think I'm a special snowflake immune to ads ffs. I'm talking about the ads in the enshittification spectrum, like the ones that blare inside the media center of your brand new car, the ones that makes sites unreadable, the ones shoved every minute in your 10 minute videos, things like that. But I understand that I may be inside my own ad hate bubble, I really dislike ads in general and I try to avoid them them best I can.

I saw the whole RFK and CDC debacle, how the agency is being weaponized to be antivax, and I cannot for the life of me understand what is happening. What does RFK has to gain with stopping vacines? What does the government gains from it? It cannot be just for show political streght, is it? Just to say "ha, in your face!" and then cause huge troubles for themselves down the road? There must be something they will have right now. But what is it? Money? Contracts? Favours?

When I was little I always though that being famous was a merit thing. If a musician was known it was because he or she was excepcional in his/her art: an incredible singer, a highly skilled guitarist, an amazing drummer.

But then I got older and saw a lot of gigs, and a lot of disciplined and truly amazing musicians that nobody heard about... And most were struggling financially, having a side job just to get by. How come? What is missing from them that the "icons" have?
