If you are a couple just about every meal feeds four which is dinner plus leftover lunch for the both of you.

That's how my partner and I do it. Dinner tonight and leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Occasionally we make a larger batch of something and end up eating leftovers for dinner again.

My husband isn’t the greatest at cooking with no recipe

Ha, this is basically me. I count myself as a passable cook so long as I have a recipe to follow. I'm MUCH more limited if I have to improvise.

Fortunately for me, there are a lot of recipes available online.

One of my roomies did this one year when I was in college. He'd left his graduation gown hanging on the sprinkler in the bathroom, and he'd been drinking a bit (oops, dry campus, he got in trouble for that). I didn't see it happen, but I heard the sound of running water and "OH FUCKING SHIT! SHIT!" etc.

They turned off the water pretty quickly, but then apparently someone had flushed a toilet on the other side of the building right before they shut the water off, so when they turned ON the water again, it flooded THAT side.

It was a brand-new dorm, too. Oof.

  • Lentil Soup (lemmy.world)

My wife found an amazing recipe for a lentil soup a while back. She was working late today, so I cooked the soup while she drove home.

It's pretty simple. Onions, garlic, peppers (I used a bell pepper) in oil. Add lentils, broth, chickpeas, and canned tomatoes. Season and simmer for 20 minutes.

    It's SO FLAVORFUL!

Usually with soups, there's a mix of spices -- and frequently, when I taste it, I say "Hmm, still needs something."

This one gets a mere sprinkle of salt and pepper, and it's great.

Apologies for the lack of photo; I didn't think to take one while cooking. FauxPseudo's post today made me think about sharing just now.

My wife bought new toothbrush heads on her way home from work today.

They didn't fit. She bought the "Oral B IO" heads, but we have a "regular" Oral B toothbrush, not the Shiny Fancy IO design.

And this is after she bought replacement heads last week at another store -- which turned out to be "compatible for" a different brand :(

    Ugh.
