Check shiori out. It's very minimal in terms of features, but it's a project that seems to not use LLMs at all. It has a Firefox extension and recently someone made a vibecoded android app.
Neither AlphaGo, not AlphaFold are LLMs though.
Also the mathematical proofs you're talking about seem to be mostly stolen by OpenAI from scientists that interacted with their chatbot before publishing their research.
It really is worth a read. Thank you.
Why would they make a rural Chinese granny either go out and buy a new computer with preinatalled Linux or go learn how to do it herself, just so that it's legal for her to call her relatives? Sounds a bit shortsighted to me.
Just get an oldish SFF or USFF office computer cheap somewhere. It's generally much cheaper and allows for upgrades if ram/ssd prices ever come down. Also somewhat new Intel CPUs are quite good for transcoding.
While I completely agree with you, I think we should give him a break on this one. The man's 85 after all.
Does it come with KDE preinstalled or is that just for the screenshot?
I'd love to give it a try on my secondary laptop as it sounds just great, but I really can't stand KDE.
Edit: KDE is the only desktop available, but if I understand that correctly alternatives are on the roadmap?
I can understand your stance here, but for me living in the EU both the current memory cartel and CXMT are foreign entities. And while one has proven themselves to be "evil" the other has not. So in a way that gives me a glimpse of hope.
TLDR: They vibe coded some app for a hackaton, by the second day it was a complete mess so they had to debug.
I really hope they start dominating the field in the coming years.
For me it has to be Compliance (2012). It's a masterpiece but it's so disturbing that I never want to see it again, and would never recommend it to anyone.
