Yeah, in my experience, it's very hit or miss with frontend code architecture (I primarily work with React). And I am very particular about keeping code clean and maintainable, so that can be a challenge sometimes for sure. It's not bad for smaller one-off tasks, but I still do a majority of my larger tasks by hand because I typically already know what I need and how to do it correctly.
That is WILD lol. No, after that, I did a bunch of backend server apps for a few years mostly in C#, and then I got put onto some web app stuff after that. For better or worse. I do enjoy it and appreciate the abstraction, and I have found that I do love frontend dev a lot, but I do sometimes miss the lower level languages haha.
When I was an intern, I was tasked with writing a file converter for 3D geometry files. There was an official cpp library to read the source files, so I was using that to read the data, restructure and transform it as needed, then write it to the output file format. Near the end, I was having a problem where I was SURE that my math was correct for the transform coordinates, but the resulting file would load in the viewer with all the correct looking pieces but all in the wrong locations. The senior guy there helped me debug it since I wasn't super familiar with cpp at the time, and we found that the library I was using had overloaded the multiply (*) operator specifically for the objects I was using it on, and it was actually multiplying and saving the result directly to the first variable used in the multiplication. I assume it was done for memory efficiency or something, but I had no idea it would behave that way, so I was accidentally changing the values of variables I didn't intend to.
Example: I was doing something a = b * c, which caused the value of b to be changed (to b * c). Which screwed things up when I needed the original value of b later.
A glitch in the matrix
Best I could do is 3.50 (dollars, not million)
Such a banger song and video.
Because then they don't get that sweet, sweet personal info from ya
I'm also on a Brando Sando kick! If you're loving it, I highly recommend jumping straight into Mistborn era 2 when you finish. It's a bit more lighthearted than the original trilogy with some amazing character development and plenty of references back to the originals. Mistborn was my gateway drug into the Cosmere, and I am absolutely hooked now haha. Working my way through the Stormlight Archives now, but I've taken a small break to read Warbreaker. It's been a treat finding all the connections between the different series and learning more about the universe he's building as a whole.
Stocking is the issue for me. I'd probably be more inclined to cook fun things if I happened to have the ingredients on-hand, but I'm a single dude with very few food preferences. I try to eat somewhat healthily, but I'm a lazy cook for sure.
Maybe I should find a good recipe book full of simple meals for one haha.
I loved Mistborn! If you haven't read the novellas/short stories yet, I recommend reading them after Bands. They're quick to get through, provide some nice context, and offer a nice break from the novels.
I literally just finished Oathbringer last night (audiobook) and started Warbreaker immediately afterwards. I saw some recommendations to read that before Words of Radiance, but whoops, I was so caught up in the Stormlight series that I couldn't stop myself lol. Figured now would be a good time to get into it.
How'd it go? Also, what sort of Adobe stuff are you running? I do hobby photography, and unfortunately lightroom is still by far the best option imo. But there are still some decent alternatives that run on Linux. I edited some engagement pics in Darktable in a pinch once because all I had with me was my laptop running Arch. It worked out pretty well.
