Which is why they should face jail time, and Google should face fines in the billions instead. That's the only way they'll consider following the law next.

And yes, people at Google should also face jail time if they were told "It's illegal" and they said "Do it anyway"

I say, give them independence. Cut them off from the grid, water, sewage. Add border checks requiring visas if they want to enter the rest of the country. Treat them how you would treat any other country, with the influence of 300 people. See how long they last.

As a nice gesture, let them have another referendum to see if they want to rejoin.

What's the point in battery powered trains? They will be a lot heavier and more expensive (per train) than electric trains that are connected to the grid through over track cables, which we already have in a lot of places.

I get it's likely faster to get going, since you don't need as much infrastructure. But it really seems like a short term solution.

I don't doubt that he is technically qualified to drive. He can do a 3 point turn and read a speed sign during any test. What I doubt is that he will follow the rules when not in the middle of the test.

Why does a 20 year old even own a car that can go that fast? Actually why can any car go that fast? You're not allowed to go even close to that on most highways.

was banned from driving for 50 months

50 years would be too short. Someone like that shouldn't be allowed behind a wheel ever again.

Yeah I went in to my settings and considered disabling this. It happened twice, during a conference I was attending.

I didn't turn it off, in the end, but if they keep doing this, a lot of people will, which is the worst thing possible when there's an actual emergency.

If a person hacks into computers, they are often forbidden from using computers for a few years. A company is apparently a person, therefore Meta as a company/person should not be allowed to use computers anymore.

Yeah I didn't think a regulated Building Society would pull some crazy shit like this. It would be extremely unbelievable. So I wasn't worried really. But I just like to understand what I'm signing and make sure it's all reasonable.

    Thanks for your input!

I'm applying to remortgage my flat, and I was reading through the conditions. It says the following:

    We have all the rights and powers, including to delegate to others, that we could exercise if we were the absolute owner of the Property, including the following: - 39.4.1 to take possession of the Property 39.4.3 to sell or let or otherwise dispose of the Property;

    However, it also says:

we will not exercise them until the end of the Term or if the Debt has become repayable under Condition 31, whichever is the sooner

Condition 31, is the part about "On Default or in Certain Other Events", so I'm not worried about that since it seems standard, but the "end of the Term" just means after the fixed term right? Even if I'm up to date on payments.

So does this mean the mortgage provider has the right to take possession of my house, or sell it, even if I've made all payments? That doesn't seem right.

Is this a typical term on a mortgage that I shouldn't be concerned about, or is this be something I should be concerned about?

I haven't hired a lawyer for the remortgage as it's inclusive of all fees, and it didn't seem necessary. But maybe I should get a lawyer to look over the terms before remortgaging my flat?

I'm actually kind of surprised by the downvotes... Maybe it's not THAT funny, but thought it was slightly humorous. Maybe it's being seen outside the community?
