Some men have told me I was crazy to pass up the "opportunity". And some women have told me that I was a "gentleman" for doing so.

I don't know why men are so awful sometimes. But I think a big part of the problem is that taking advantage of women is normal and accepted.

The term "rape culture" is often misunderstood, lampooned, etc. but that's a really good distillation of it. SA is not "encouraged" in a legal sense, it's punished, but there is a cultural expectation of men to be uncontrollably sexually aggressive while women are supposed to "defend their virtue".

If men aren't sufficiently sexually assertive, they are often seen as less masculine. This isn't always the case - it can support the conception of masculinity as being chivalrous. But can also be viewed as being more passive, less virile, less strong, etc.

If women are perceived not successfully "defending their virtue", it's seen as a failure on their part except sometimes in extreme cases of sexual violence if seen as being "unprovoked". Hence the "look what she was wearing", "asking for it", etc. etc. tropes. These are often less overt now, which causes people to overlook the extent to which they blame women for being victims of SA.

Rape culture - it's defo a thing and that's it.

And so... would you want to block all israeli people? That'd be the analagous situation. What is it you're trying to say?

If it's just what you want on your own app that's fine, of course - to each their own.

This makes me wonder if it'd be possible to print some transparent stickers with some kind of noise pattern that is very subtle, but enough to disrupt any kind of detailed image recognition.

Then maybe it'd go undetected for a while, potentially, but basically would turn the camera into a cctv camera.

That's... uhh... the point. For both companies and applicants.

If an applicant wants to accept a lower paying position for whatever reason, they'd still apply.

If a company doesn't want to pay above $X, then they won't waste time interviewing people who wouldn't accept less than $X.

Interestingly, normies who argue against nationalization of private property tend to say "commies want to nationalize my toothbrush", etc. not understanding the difference between private property (data centers) and personal property (consumer-grade RAM, for instance).

So, funny enough, Altman is advocating for the cartoon villain version of communism where the centralized authority (Sam Altman) nationalizes your personal property (RAM).

Meanwhile, folks actually in favor of nationalization to reap the benefits of planned systems of production would not try to steal your RAM, but would take Altman's datacenters for the public good.

Definitely not. It'd not been nearly as competitive, Musk and other republican donors would not have needed to donated $100M or whatever they're up to now, and the Democrats would just do their normal thing (and lose)

But, it's Paxton- the 2nd most corrupt politician in America - so they had to divert funds from other close races and grassroots donations for Talarico have broken records. And the Republicans are still (probably) going to lose.

No single words, and nothing that seems too interesting in German, but there's a good Cantonese phrase that encompasses that sentiment:

    殺人放火金腰帶,修橋補路無屍骸

shā rén fàng huǒ jīn yāo dài, xiū qiáo bǔ lù wú shī hái

Roughly, “murder and arson earn a gold belt; doing good deeds (lit. building bridges and repairing roads) leaves no corpse (i.e. no one can find your body to bury properly).

Does anybody else have a library of saved commands/scripts? What's in it? How do you organize it? Is there anything you'd want to share that other people might find helpful?

I do. I keep it in VS Code and store complicated (for me) stuff that I can't remember or worry I might not.

    1. Playlist download with yt-dlp with all my best settings, adding playlist index as track number.

    2. Ffmpeg metadata cleaner for music. Searching title for a bunch of specific strings to remove, setting the band, album, etc. and saving these in a new folder.

    3. Desktop file contents for when I need to create one for an appimage

    4. The script I used to bind audio output switching to a hotkey

    5. How to use ADB for when android blocks sideloading the normal way and I inevitably forget what Android Debug Bridge is or how to use it.

Linux Mint btw. Also yes, I am a noob.
