The best part is that's probably $5 worth of copper. That's an AC charger, not one of the big boi DC chargers with a 400 amp cable.

    Probably the "stealing cables from EV chargers" thing has made the rounds amongst the cooker dipshit community and our hero wouldn't know a kilowatt if it bit him, so he thinks there's good money in that cable.

    It looks like a short cable, so it probably contains the same amount of copper as a $25 extension cord from Bunnings.

    Cooker = conspiracy theorist . The bad, antisocial kind. The kind that thinks there's 5g and autism in vaccines and sovereign citizen bullshit gets them magically out of having to pay rego and that cutting EV charger cables is an act of rebellion

    Dipshit = dipshit

    Could be, but we've definitely had a problem with copper thieves. A bunch of shared paths and bike paths have signs up on them saying that the lights have had their cables replaced with aluminium, due to theft of copper.

    You guys send in his plate?

    If we’re gonna have a surveillance state, we might as well track his plate to the scrapper who’s paying the thieves.

    Curious to know if cops in your country (Aus, NZ?) give a shit or not.

    Lodged a police report and they were there within the hour! Was crazy the response for such a small dollar crime.

    Not that they'll go after them real hard for this specifically, but it's a nice bit of ammunition for them if they pick him up for something else. A little 4K video of copper theft on top to make sure something sticks.

    Jesus what a cheapass criminal. How much was that? Couple of bucks of copper?

    Fine should be 1000x what he would have made off of it.

    Ugh, fair point.

    I wonder if aluminium cables are available. Sure, they’re thicker, but cheaper.
