His family has been working non-stop, even in the face of the grief of losing a family member, to bring him home before the government can deport him

ICE is nothing but a gang of bigots and bullies. Preying on the vulnerable and taking the cheapest of shots at those who actually contribute to the country - this will be remembered

It looks like they’re hunting anyone ethnic with a following on social media per the latest batch of headlines.

Arresting people while they’re renewing their work permits should be illegal. Plain cruelty

It sounds like this is somebody who doesn't have PR. So they're not under any obligation to renew his work permit as far as I know.

Still, detaining him is completely insane. That should not be what happens to someone whose work permit is denied.

This is an exceedingly strange comment. What is it you "get" about homosexuality?

    Local news says

Mbock came to the United States as a child from Cameroon in 2002. Court documents show he had a long-standing removal order, "which resulted from a grant of voluntary departure in 2005." It was eventually converted to a removal order. Despite the removal order, family and friends say Mbock completed his yearly check-ins and was able to renew his work permit without any problems from ICE for decades.

I guess with the push to enforce they no longer wanted to extend his renewals and he finally got removed. I wonder why the article didn’t include that detail?

If he came into the US as a child in 2002 and signed a "voluntary" removal order in 2005, it sure seems like ICE conned a child into giving up their rights, something they continue to do today.

People opting not to enforce that despicable act for 21 years is laudable. The fact that Trumps ICE are instead enforcing it should have been mentioned, along with a roaring condemnation of how we treat vulberable children in this country.
