Multiple things can be true at once.

    • The election process in the US is horribly constructed in the first place
    • It’s executed even more poorly
    • Nevertheless, voting does determine who sits in the seat
    • It does matter who sits in the seat
    • The person who sits in the seat will represent the wealthy and powerful, not you
    • It does matter who represents the powerful, because they can be pushed (by the people, and by the powerful) in different ways
    • Even if we get the right person in the seat, and do a very good job of pushing them, it won’t be enough
    • We need to do it anyway, because that act of organizing isn’t only to influence politicians — it’s also to influence ourselves, and improve our ability to find a path to real victory

Don’t think that voting alone is sufficient. Don’t think that voting and organizing are sufficient. But also don’t think that voting and organizing are not necessary.

I voted blue conservative my whole life. I did primary votes. I voted for genocidal drug war supporting psychos who prevented the rail unions from striking.

That time has passed. I will vote for who best represents me from now on. I am graciously willing to add the democrats as my lasted ranked vote if they replace First-past-the-post voting in the blue states they control. I sure hope democrats allow me to vote for them should my other choices not win.

    Democracy or bust.

When their genocide support is pointed out, the liberal nazi defaults to bragging about how Palestinians are still dying, like an anime villain. Not realizing that are tacitly admitting what the communists have said all along: that there is no functional difference between the two sides of the billionaire pedophile uniparty.

Yeah, some guy on the internet certainly has final say on matters, eh? Your entire government has always been fascist by your descriptor as it has always been the #1 backer of the state of Israel. At least one side wasn't planning on mass murder in the streets and blanket abductions to black sites? Pick and choose though, ammirite?!

Actually, they were very much planning on and doing mass murders in the streets and abductions to black sites, they just were doing it 1000s of kms away in Palestine instead of doing it at home.

Genocide and mass murder in the streets are Genocide and mass murder in the streets even when they're not happening at home, the fact that you think who it's being done to makes one instance "less evil" than the other is just chauvinism and white supremacy.

Not only are you trying to deflect criticism but you are doing so with a straw-man, pathetic.

The point isn't any illusion that the Reps aren't doing those things, the point is that the fact the Dems are doing the same thing shows that they aren't any better or any less evil than the Reps.

I disagree with you, and I believe evil has a scale, if you will. The Democrats are far less evil than Republicans. You need a new government, wholesale, and I've said as much. But if you are going to pick the lesser of two evils, you ha e failed greatly at that task. You picked the most evil of all evils, and you are paying the price, as are the Palestinians. Who is deflecting? You won't admit the Republicans are more in the wrong. You just point out shit Dems do as if the other party isn't doing it ten times harder. So nyah!

I'm not from the US, I'm imperialized by the US, which is true regardless of who sits in the white house.

That aside I find it frustrating that you act as if Palestinians deserve collective punishment because of mythical leftists not voting for Harris, which I don't believe is even reality, but if it was, she could have just said she'd stop the genocide in Gaza, and done. Politicians aren't entitled to votes. And Palestinians are people. So fuck you.

The Democrats are far less evil than Republicans.

You keep saying that but you never provide any evidence that they are. You just take it on blind faith that they are and speak like it's an obvious and unquestionable fact when it isn't. Pretty much every single messed up the Republicans did, from kinds in cages and the wall to war, the Democrats have most often followed right in their footsteps and pilled on.

How are they "far less evil" exactly? According to who? To what?

You need a new government, wholesale, and I’ve said as much.

That's the only point on which we agree.

But if you are going to pick the lesser of two evils, you ha e failed greatly at that task. You picked the most evil of all evils, and you are paying the price, as are the Palestinians.

Again, this is contingent on your blind faith belief that there is a lesser evil of the two, with which I do not agree.

From before the previous elections, I've been of the opinion that Trump wouldn't be able to do worse to the Palestinian than the Democrats did even if he wanted to for the simple reason that the Democrats were already doing the worst that America could afford to do under the current circumstances.

And I've been vindicated in that belief, because like it or not, the fact is that the Republicans haven't done anything to Gaza that the Democrats weren't already doing or weren't planning to do. Even the Trump real estate in Gaza bullshit isn't fundamentally different from what was already planned to be done with the region under the Democrats.

Point is, your narrative that the Democrats did the the Palestinian genocide "less hard" than the Republicans would is objectively false. They have demonstrated themselves to be rabid Zionists and it is extremely naive to believe they wouldn't do the genocide as hard as they possibly can.

Again, you can't just claim that they are less evil, you have to show that they are. You haven't, and you never do.

Who is deflecting? You won’t admit the Republicans are more in the wrong. You just point out shit Dems do as if the other party isn’t doing it ten times harder.

Where's the "ten times" comes from Alex? Can you explain that to me? By what metric are they doing these things "ten times harder" Alex?

Again, same thing I keep pointing out in this comment. You keep saying but you never show. You never propose examples. Why? Because you don't know that the Dems are the lesser evil, you just believe it. That's why I keep saying that you're taking it on blind faith, because you are.

Do I need to whip out statistics on the crimes perpetrated by ice in the last two weeks? The dismantling of environmental protection agencies, the exposure of high level secrets by administrative agents. The careless and reckless bombing of civilian water craft. The invasion of a foreign country to steal their oil for pennies on the dollar? I could go on, but you need sources?! It's called Google. You havent given me any evidence the left is just as evil, only that they also supported Palestinian genocide. We'll never know what this could have looked liked under a democratic regime? Except you'll just shout "samesies" and call it a day. There is more than one issue facing the world or your country.

Why waste time canvassing and voting and taking part in the system that is from its inception designed to keep you down? Take that time and effort and put it into something meaningful like organising a militant party of those with theoretical grounding to build up a counter power structure and make real change.

Voting for a genocide backing fascist because they are more personable than the cruel mean fascist rather than doing anything constructive makes you a fascist. The real leftist option is not voting for fascists and then yes ideally overthrowing the capitalist system(sort of a core part of being a leftist).

This implies that the democrats aren't on the fascist side. That is clearly not true. The antifascist side has always been the left wing(communists and anarchists). If you support the "nice fascists" or the "mean fascists" you're still a fascist.

Both the DNC and GOP are far-right parties of genocidal imperialists

And one of these will be running the country in 2028. Forming a coalition to fight them is a great long term goal, bit it takes time and momentum.

We need to stop treating capitalist-controlled and run elections as our primary political outlet

As of September 2025, 54% have a positive view of capitalism compared to 39% with a positive view of socialism. Those numbers are converging, but we have at least a decade or two before they cross. We just don't have the numbers to pull it off.

    revolutionary working class parties.

Unions. We need to build unions. When a majority of people see unions working for them against the capitalists, then they will be ready to accept something new.

The fact that one of those two parties will win does not mean we need to accept the DNC as a valid representative of the working classes, as they fix nothing and maintain imperialism.

They may or may not fix anything, but the RNC will make things worse. The RMC has enabled a fascist takeover that is stripping rights from LGBT people, spreading contagious diseases with antivax policy, abusing and shooting people dead in the street in the name of border security, initiating a coup in Venezuela by kidnapping a national leader, murdering sailors with drone strikes, and denying the basic civil liberties of millions of residents. You can tell me all day about how bad the DNC is but at the end of the day they are the least worst choice.

It's so funny how even in analogies you're reduced to splitting hair and grasping at straws desperately trying to find any meaningful difference between the Dems and Reps that isn't easily debunk-able because as the Dems go increasingly mask-off you have less and less to work with to make your "vote blue no matter who" spiel.

Like, you do realize how utterly negligible a difference what you just said "adds" to the metaphor right?

Do you have any actual arguments or just instant noodle armchair truisms?

"Lesser evils" are only worth choosing if the difference between the 2 evils is big enough to have an impact. In this case it isn't, both parties are genocidal gangs with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. The only difference between the 2 is what they say when they know the public can hear them (and even then their rhetoric is getting more and more similar) and what the corporate owned media says about them, but in practice, when it comes to quality of life, repression, violence, wages, legislation, etc... aka metrics that actually matters, there is virtually no difference between the 2.

democratic lawmakers are demanding ICE reform.

Aka they are okay with violent forced deportations as long as it's done ✨ legaly ✨.

Why do you assume the Democrats wouldn't build concentration camps as well btw? No, because last I checked, the Dems didn't do shit about kids in cages, forced prison labor or the US's torture prisons like Guantanamo and gave more budget than Trump to the Trump border wall not to mention their support and funding of literal concentration camps in Israel. Does that sound like the actions of a party that wouldn't build concentration in the US to you? Because it sure as heck doesn't to me.

In my opinion, if the Dems had been elected they would have done it and justified it with their classic pr technique of letting the Reps vote whatever they want in congress while they stand by and pretend like they couldn't do anything about it despite their candidate being in office and go "well, the law is in the book now so we have to play along" like they did with Roe v Wade.
