The German government media commissioner and others tell DW that Russia is "afraid" of free expression and a free press. It follows the Justice Ministry in Moscow labeling Deutsche Welle an "undesirable organization."

    If you're getting labelled as an 'undesirable organisation' by the Russian kakistocracy, you're doing something right.

    Terrorist states like Russia only exist because free speech and calling out their bullshit get censored.

    Isn’t DW subsidized by the state? Nothing says free press like state funded media that acts as a metric for the status quo.

    RT is obviously trash, but at least they aren’t controlled by Zionists.

    No RT is shit. Fuck RT. I was (ineffectively) trying to highlight the similarities between DW and RT, namely that they are both government mouthpieces, and more specifically I was trying to highlight the weirdness of an appeal to the free press.

    DW is financed by taxes, but the content is not directly controlled by the politics only indirectly. The state sets the broad goals by a law, Yes, DW has its own law, But politics is restricted by law as well to influence the content. Another very important law in Germany is the press freedom and DWs reporters can always rely on that for their work. You can definitely rely more on DW articles as you can on privately owned news outlets, since they might have to do what their financier says.

    Also I'm pretty sure, taking your comparison, in Russia there is no press freedom like that.
