Maybe I'm just being naiive but i think DV is at the point in his career where he wouldn't take on a project unless he really believed in it.

It tells us that the casting will be terrible. It's impressive that Chalamet and Zendaya were so bad in Dune that they've managed to retroactively ruin Villeneuve's films for me.

It doesn’t say that it would be good for sure. What it does say is that the creators of bond movies are trying to make actual good movies, which is great, imo casino royale was a classic.
