Didn’t we leave over a year ago? JFC are people slow.

People are inconvenienced, hence don't do it.

I can believe going through the account deletion is inconvenient.

But you cannot make me believe that just deleting the app is. Takes less than 5 seconds unless your shortcut is millions of homescreens deep.

I mean I got everything I use often on one screen, and everything I use occasionally is like 4 extra icons on the second. You cannot convince me that is inconvenient.

And even if you could, just ignoring it is even less inconvenient.

Then you have to decide how much effort it is to prevent their emails showing up. Either following them or going back and deleting the account are your choices. One is less convenient and more thorough. Decide between those.

I did it around the time he bought the place. I didn't even know anything about his politics at the time, but I barely used it and that picture of him with the funk with that shit eating grin and the general sentiment of everybody's else's feelings on it just pissed me off. Once the election started I was happy to be far away.

I stand by my statement. Users are inconvenienced by literally anything.

Not that I think that is a good trait, I hate it! But seeing what a lot of services did and do only confirms it.

A colleague of mine still sees no harm in reddit. We're in a professional it field and I left years ago (api debacle) ! Sigh.

That's just diluting the word. If doing literally anything different at all is considered "inconvenient", then people are just fucking lazy af. Like an over the top amount of lazy.

If supporting a Nazi platform is considered easier to them than having even a raindrop of effort, then they're probably not worth the oxygen they're taking from someone else, tbh.

At least assuming they're not autistic or some other disability. I can totally see it with certain conditions, but other than that it's just shameful.

    OK let me be clear.

Users are over the top lazy as fuck.

Anyone working in view of IT can see that very clearly. It's not on overstatement.

Were talking about optimizing clicks here, where every trivial step will lose a lot of users because they can't be bothered.

The thought of who runs the platform and such does not bother any normal user.

But anyhow I am not here to convince you nor do I gain anything from posting. Just voicing what I see as the truth.

Thanks for the reminder. Accidentally logged in with a Google account a while back and haven't deleted the account since because I forget to because I never use it. When I went to delete it today the first thing that I saw was some kind of anti-semitic bullshit.

    Top.

    Fucking.

    Post.

I hadn't interacted with the platform and that's the first fucking thing I saw.

    Nazi Bar.

Edit: just a friendly reminder to block and report.

If you were looking for a choir to preach to, I imagine this is about as choir a choir as one could find. Where this image really needs to go is on Xitter. Not that anyone here is likely to go register a Xitter account to do so.

Anti immigration…. Musk is an immigrant… an immigrant to the states, an immigrant to South Africa. His decision totally makes sense… it’s self hatred.

Reminds me of Castlereigh trying to deal with Tsar Alexandar I at the The Congress of Vienna (1814)

    https://youtu.be/QtOXq9SwarQ?t=1061

It's difficult to characterize Tsar Alexander, because it seems that most of his mental energy was caught up in creating narratives about what kind of person he was, and not so much on what he did or how he behaved. Alexander had 8 or 10 of these narratives going through his head at the same time, and wasn't particularly bothered when they contradicted each other.

Alexander considered himself a true "Enlightenment Monarch," and told anybody who would listen that he believed in a limited, constitutional monarchy, and wanted Russia to have elections, and a parliament, and independent courts. At the same time, he ruled Russia as a tyrannical dictator, which was justified in his mind because he believed that he was God's chosen instrument on Earth. These two thoughts are not compatible.

But Alexander did not see a contradiction. He would simply switch between these two modes of thought depending on who he was talking to and how he felt that day.

Alexander believed himself to be the most honourable man in Europe, a man who revered ritual, and tradition, and justice. Simultaneously, he believed that God made him Emperor of Russia for a reason, and if he needed to go back on his word and use brute force to implement his will, that was all part of God's plan.

These contradictory beliefs made Alexander impossible to deal with. His positions came off as utterly random, and they could change at any time depending on his mood.

Oh for sure -- in the context of Tsar Alexander, he likely grew up being told from birth that it was his divine right to rule, whilst at the same time he wanted to be in with the trendy European crowd promoting democracy. I can totally see how someone might have these two halves of themselves that they cannot totally reconcile .

Musk, I believe, truly does care what people think of him. There was a time in the early 2010s when he had a trendy wife, was promoting open source specs for E-cars, and was doing as much as he could to signal to progressives that he was their man.

Only once it became clear that he could not live the consequence-free rich-man lifestyle with all of its abusive horrors and still be revered by the progressives, is when he ran like a crying infant to the skirts of its mother towards the conservatives. He ultimately wishes to be loved and respected by the in-crowd, doesn't matter what they stand for.

In interviews, he has said there is a “homeless industrial complex” of nonprofits ruining California

What is that even supposed to mean?

thanks, that's an interesting article indeed

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.” ‘The federal budget is an expression – perhaps the most concrete and measurable expression – of the values and priorities of the United States. What the federal budget expresses today is an insult to human dignity.

    What a great quote.

Is it that hard to parse? The people whose jobs depend on there being homeless people have no incentive to actually solve the problem.

I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, "no. get out."

And the dude next to me says, "hey i'm not doing anything, i'm a paying customer." and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, "out. now." and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed

Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, "you didn't see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them."

And i was like, ohok and he continues.

"you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.

And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

And i was like, 'oh damn.' and he said "yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people."

And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven't forgotten that at all.

Image needs text alternative unless the idea is to exclude. Aren't Nazis exclusionary?

Is it a Nazi world or Nazi nation? Chicago let Nazis march: is that a Nazi city?

I'm not sure ceding "safe spaces" to Nazis is a great way to resist & denounce them. I doubt segregating ourselves into ideologically pure spaces challenges extremism or maintains deradicalizing influences that may change minds.
