The Republicans are letting him do it though. Remember these moments.

The entire country is letting him do it.

I bet if that was that easy he and most of the administration would already be 6 under, with the increasing amount of people with nothing to lose.

They know what they're doing, they know they're wrong and they're hated. They handpick and filter the crowds through various means.

The only real time someone got an 'honest' shot at Trump was at that fateful rally where a far-right guy suspiciously got to spend hour-plus at a nearby rooftop, completely noticed and without action from security. And then the miraculous 'shot' that granted Trump near-martyrdom as God's chosen representative before his cult. Funny all things considered.

I'd have to since you only have guns for shooting school kids and plinking walmart shoppers. You're getting your ass kicked by a fat orange fuck in diapers and whatever elon is supposed to be. 250 years of running your mouths and fucking with everyone else and this is how you end. You have the country you deserve.

For everyone's awareness, Congress hasn't voted on a Declaration of War since 1942. Every single conflict we've been involved in since WWII has been initiated by some sort of executive fiat, with Congress claiming authority over war through "appropriations and oversight." This particular issue has been fucked for decades.

This is the only fact, the ONLY fact that matters. Congress has abdicated its authority? No, the entire American electorate has abdicated its authority. Would it have meant death and destruction in the streets of every American city to take it back? Yes. Will the consequence of NOT taking it back mean the same?

Illegal and another reason to IMPEACH HIM NOW.

Per the war powers act, the president can dispatch Marines for 30 days without approval from Congress. When Obama violated that in Syria, nothing happened outside of a lawsuit filed by Rand Paul that went nowhere. My guess is when trump inevitably violates it, nothing will happen even harder.

I love how when I was hearing about them looking at this, I was getting responses from people "It requires congressional approval" over and over. This is my shocked face.

Why not? He does anything he wants, with full support of HIS party. And none of those bastards say anything. People who voted for him and people who didn't vote for anyone are to blame for this fucker to be in power.

    Why not?

Because Trump doesn't like losing. Iran has already shot down four F-35Is, plus dropping bombs all over Tel Aviv to the horror of the Israelis who thought Iron Dome made them impervious to consequences. The 2002 Millennium Challenge already taught us that an invasion of Iran would be a bloodbath far in excess of our Iraqi Adventure. And Trump fucking knows it, because he was one of the most public critics of Bush's War back when popular opinion soured in 2008.

He needs someone in the room who can convince him that Iran will be a quick and easy win. Alternatively, someone willing to hand him a truly prodigious new bribe. And if he sees Israelis getting their teeth kicked in? While MBS and the Qatars are sitting on the sidelines making the "stop fucking our shit up, we don't need this right now" hand gestures?

Like, that's the whole thing about Donnie. He's a mercenary, not a Cheney-style Neocon with delusions of global domination. If this were Costa Rica or Tunisia or Cyprus? A country that couldn't hit back? Ab-so-fucking-lutely. Same reason he was so eager to drop bombs over Yemen (until they hit back and he got annoyed at his Beautiful Generals pooching it).

But he doesn't want to go down as The President Who Lost An Aircraft Carrier. When he's got a liquored up fuckboi as his Secretary of Defense and he routinely disses his own commanders for incompetence, he doesn't need this right now. Less actual wars, more sending in the Marine Corps Gestapo to gun down rioters in LA.

He doesn't want to do this on his own.

But he'll happily let Congress do a big vote to take the blame.

Isn't this an impeachable offense? Like, declaring war and mobilizing troops is not something you can unilaterally do as president. That's Congress's job. Well, I guess we'll see what happens. Congress has so far let Trump do whatever he wants, and so has the supreme court. So, 🤷‍♀️

Also the 2001 Authorization of The Use of Military Force, which has no expiry date, and allows unrestricted military action against anyone the administration believes played a role in the 9/11 attacks. As far as I'm aware all Trump has to do is claim Iran produced or sheltered terrorists at some point (even if it was in the past) and he's more or less legally in the clear. There's already precedent.

Under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, the 2001 AUMF was used to justify the deployment of US forces to Afghanistan, the Philippines, Georgia, Yemen, Djibouti, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iraq, and Somalia.

    Again, past decisions.

I'm not defending TACOman here, but bombing the middle east is like a normal afternoon for basically any US president since at least Bush the First

Edit. Shit. I agree with you. And it looks like I'm arguing probably. I hate that I am so cynical, but then I just... I mean... look at everything that keeps happening, you know?

I don't know the specifics but the president can move troops without congressional approval as long as they're there less than 90 days or something but that can be extended.

Congress hasn't declared war on anyone since WW2.

I looked into this yesterday, it seems we haven't declared war since WW2, and stuff like this is usually done with AUMF (Authorizations for Use of Military Force). Those can be issued after the fact. I think the president can basically do whatever for 60 days if I understand correctly.

The military is America's workforce program. Those kids just needed a job and healthcare. They're too young, inexperienced in life, and desperate. They shouldn't be executed. On the other hand, the higher command, those whom the administration put in command for their loyalty, should be held accountable. I'm also a firm believer that those in charge of others should be punished equally for the actions of those under their command. That includes the commander in chief of the armed forces.

  • From the article, "the advocacy group Demand Progress Wednesday, urging Americans to call 1-833-STOP-WAR to connect with their representatives and push them to support war powers resolutions."

I called this number, gave them my zip code and they automatically connected me to the offices of my representatives to leave a voicemail urging them to support a war powers resolution to stop a war in Iran.

It was super easy. A phone call is worth 1,000 emails.

DONT worry! If he tries ANYTHING that Congress DOESNT like like Starting a War or Eliminating Hundreds of THOUSANDS of Jobs Congress can HOLD Him ACCOUNTABLE!

Right now, the most effective thing you can do is flood Congress with calls to show that the American people don't want to go to war with Iran,

Weird, because I can think of a few more effective ways to demand progress.
