Setting the stage for Martial law. Slowly put troops out and when the midterms start, arrest those trying to vote.

Edit: Always appreciate proofreaders. Thanks to all that serve!

Who is Marshall? What does he have to do with martial law?

Marshall Law is ironically responsible for enforcing marital law.

Martial law is its own thing, but due to some confusion Marshall keeps getting calls about it.

I'm getting a bit tired of drawing comparisons to Nazi Germany. Like actually exhausted.

  • Help them do what? Feed the detainees? Clean up waste? Because they aren't doing very well with that right now.

I’m curious when somebody is gonna try to shoot them thinking they’re just being kidnapped.

it should be all of us. we should be coordinating to do that very thing. way more effective than protests.

You’re inviting martial law. I respect your passion though.

    You’re inviting martial law.

you're damn right. we have to be willing to fight them. living in fear of that outcome is defeat. if all they have to do is threaten us, then we're already defeated.

Who are you expecting to buy tanks or missiles from?

I’m not risking my life at this point unless my family is in immediate danger. I got too much to lose to be a hero.

Getting troops for "administrative and clerical functions" bullshit.

So, call me crazy, but I really do think the protest organizers need to push WAY harder on the idea that while ICE is the enemy, the NG (and the military at large too, hopefully) is not. We should make posters saying stuff like “NG: We’re citizens, and you’re citizen soldiers; we should be friends!”

I genuinely do hope and believe that when the chips are really down at some point, if the National Guard or any active-duty unit is ordered to do something absolutely beyond the pale, they’d refuse the order and frag the person who gave it. I think that may be part of how we end up getting out of this shitshow. And yes, I do realize how deeply fucked it is that I’m basically banking on a mutiny by elements of the US Military as our final breakwater against fascism… but our civilian institutions are manifestly failing to meet the moment in any meaningful way.

Wasn't the National Guard the people who shot those kids at Kent State?

  • The national guard is a meaningfully different organization than it was back during the Vietnam war era. And so is our society. I’d like to think that if Kent State played out today, we’d likely see a very different outcome. And at any rate, we’ll probably all get a chance to see what happen sooner than later in that respect.

All I’m saying is that if you are overtly friendly and inclusive to volunteer national guards[wo]men, it’s gonna be a lot harder for them to look you in the eye and pull the trigger. Up to and including refusing orders or fragging the officer giving the order.

If you’ve wondered why everything looks like a coup since he got in, perhaps it is because it is one.

Edit: the upvote/downvote ratio on a comment like this shows how rapidly Lemmy is turning into Reddit. Nobody cares about the data, if you remotely sound like defending the GOP down the chute you go.

It’s your loss America. I’ll sleep fine as long as we don’t have electronic voting systems here.

It's interesting that you post a message like that when yours is the majority position on Lemmy and comes up regularly. Any time I post conflicting data on the election, I'm down voted at about a 40/60 ratio up/down. Meanwhile politically I'm somewhere between Lenin and Bernie.

No I accidentally included that edit from my previous comment in another post which experienced that.

The voting behaviour is very strange. To my autistic head black on white data indicating the “leader of the free world” may have have taken control over the largest nuclear arsenal of the world seems pretty unequivocally the most important message of our times, but people on social media just go

_But the way you’re saying it is not nice, so until you learn to be kind, I think the best path forward for humanity is to downvote so less people see that random information you’re posting. (Which I didn’t bother to read frankly, because did I mention your tone was off) _

I’m beginning to understand why the human race is really a race to the bottom.

Lol I mindlessly copy pasted my edit from the previous post, this should be a fun upvote downvote battle to watch. At least these votes are counted correctly and one time per user.

Remember when we had the Posse Comitatus Act? The law that makes doing this unambiguously illegal?

So they want to kill all the cheap labor based businesses in core red States? Congratulations. Smart decision. This will definitely boost the next election results.

Aww that’s cute that you think there’s going to be a next election. And if there is, I guarantee they’ve already gerrymandered and election machine tampered it into the result they want.

They. Do. Not. Care. About. A. Next. Election.

I'm really wondering what the real reason is behind the anti-immigrant actions. Sure, racism is part of it, but there has to be a money aspect for somebody because of all the extra business.

This is generating a ton of jobs in louisiana, which is basically the last slave state as-is with how their prisons are run anyway.

The private prison executives had a leaked meeting where they celebrate Trump's victory.

Fun fact, the USA still practices slavery by making prisoners exempt from the 13th Amendment which in all other cases abolished slavery. A lot of industry is constructed by convicts for cheap cheap.

I have assumed they want downward pressure on labor costs but by removing labor you just raise the cost of it. Supply vs demand... cut off the supply and the demand peaks.

Raise the labor cost on manufacturing, food, landscaping, etc and you just raise prices for everybody, more runaway inflation happens and the US competes even less with the rest of the world.

Just doesn't add up to me. Maybe for billionaires the math works out in their favor though.

Where those 2nd amendment rights Americans so viciously protect?

Oh right it was just for show. A country full of cowards. All those history books and films, starting to think it was exaggerated. Ain't no way Americans are brave.
