A cave cricket found in a 25-metre-deep man-made tunnel on the slopes of Mount Vigla, on the Greek island of Kastellorizo. It has a brown body and elongated, curved limbs built for gripping the tunnel's vertical and overhead surfaces, and it was confirmed as a separate species by both morphology and DNA. It is named for the Balrog of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The genus Dolichopoda now holds 68 recognised species, 51 of them in Greece.
