Maybe the BeIN offices should be protested?

    Now now, obviously I'm suggesting peaceful and lawful protests.

    Yes, until these are ignored or the police begin the attacs to peacefull protesters. This is why protests begin peacefull but often don't end this way when the police hit always the wrong people or police disguised as protesters begin with violent acts to justify the atacs.

    Copyright is a scam. And patent and copyright trolls is a plague for the internet. Shame on French courts for siding with those cunts.

    How are the French planning to enforce fines on a Swiss company?

    It was fun watching OfCom masquerade as an American authority against 4Chan before throwing in the towel.

    This decision ... forces Quad9 to block the recursive DNS resolution for a number of domain names for users located in France.

    ...

    For us, recursive DNS resolution is a neutral and passive service. We categorically refuse to alter or lie to you about the DNS responses you receive in a way that opposes your expectations.

    ...

    a Qatari company with offices in France, previously sought to force Quad9 to block resolution for a set of domain names they assert are participating in copyright infringement of its audiovisual rights on sports event broadcasts

    Interesting to note the impact this may have on privacy projects for users in France. For example Monero uses Quad9 as its first choice but at least has fallbacks.

    static const char *DEFAULT_DNS_PUBLIC_ADDR[] =
    {
      "9.9.9.10",           // Quad9 unfiltered (Switzerland)
      "149.112.112.10",     // Quad9 secondary (Switzerland)
      "185.222.222.222",    // DNS.SB (Germany)
      "45.11.45.11",        // DNS.SB secondary (Germany)
      "194.150.168.168",    // CCC (Germany)
    };

    Absolutely awful ruling.

    You can’t do business in such a moronic legal climate, and you can’t have digital sovereignty if foreign owned corporations successfully chase off your infrastructure.
