I have been going a bit crazy with this for about 20 years now. I am not yet 40, for reference. So I was nearly killed in a SA around the time that this started and I do have TBI from that, but I have in the last five years really been pushing my doctors to help me with this.

I've been through two years of pelvic floor training, which didn't help or hinder the issue. I've logged the times when I needed to change my lower half clothing and there's no pattern. I've tried a pessary and anti-perspirant around my groin and upper thighs, but still need to change my clothing after a few hours outside running errands or just existing in the world. I have tried those sweatproof/leak proof undies but they aren't enough.

Earlier this year I had an mri of my pelvic region and it was unremarkable. That was preceded by ultrasounds before and after voiding my bladder and I'm not retaining anything. Very recently I had an mri of my spine and they found I have a few lumbar fractures that have healed, as well as too narrow of a space for the nerves. More physical therapy, but still no change (although at least I can walk reliably again!)

Fellow Femfolk, please help me out with suggestions. I'm so tired of bringing towels and extra sets of clothing with me just to hang out with friends or see a concert

its not really clear from your post whats going on exactly. is there any odor or anything to the liquid to distinguish between sweat, urine, or vaginal fluid? is there any sensation associated with the liquid appearing? does it seem to come from anywhere in particular? it could be hyperhidrosis in the area if its sweat, which i think they can treat with a co2 laser to destroy the sweat glands. its basically where you sweat constantly and excessively. i have a friend who has that in her underarms and she got the laser treatment and it worked for her.

Sorry, sometimes I just hit a point and I just bleghhhh my thoughts without structuring them well enough for others. Thank you for still trying to help me despite the confusion!

No, the scent and texture of the liquid isn't enough to tell what it is. I personally think it's more urine based, but I've been told by my ex-doctor that as an SA survivor that my perceptions are off. It's been really fun trying to figure this out while dealing with that kind of Healthcare..

I do not experience sensations before or after the fluid. That's what I was trying to detail with the "no patterns" sentence. Sorry, I really didn't even expect anyone would read this 😭 I don't even know my pants are soaked until I've gone to the bathroom and touched the clothing with my hands. It happens whether I'm stressed or happy, around ptsd triggers or very safe people etc.

It is coming from my vagina, there are impressions left if I've caught it early enough

hmm have you ever tried a menstrual cup? it would be interesting to see if it catches anything, so maybe you could tell if its coming from the vaginal walls or deeper in. to me it kind of sounds like excessive vaginal wetness, like maybe theres a nerve issue causing the aroused wetness response at random times. you mentioned you have some spinal damage which could be related. somewhere deep in the memory banks i seem to remember people getting weird genital symptoms from lower spine injuries, but i could be misremembering.

I don't have periods, so I never thought to try that! I am going to try this as soon as I get paid, thank you so much!! 💜

Extra edit: I've been diagnosed this summer with a separate nerve disorder that affects regulation (small fiber neuropathy). They had to take a biopsy to diagnose it, but given what else I've learned about it I actually think you're so spot on. Thank you so much for listening and being here 💜 I'll let you know in a few weeks if this was the answer

My reading comprehension skills aren't great today so I just want to clarify, the ultrasound before and after emptying your bladder shows you did fully empty?

Is the liquid/moisture specifically showing up in a certain spot? And I assume you've seen a gyno/obgyn but have you seen a urogynocologist? Or a urologist?

Regardless, I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

Thank you 💜 also not your fault that my post is not easy to parse!

The ultrasound showed I fully emptied by their standards (a tsp left if I remember correctly). I have not had a urogyno or a urologist assigned to me, no. Because it seems like this isn't a urinary problem to them.

I also should have detailed this in my post, my Healthcare is the VA, I was serving in the military when the SA happened. Because of my Healthcare provider and the very rural place I lived until last month, elderly men are their main patients. A young woman does not have the same problems so I'm worried I may have been overlooked

Anyway, if I am allowed to be a bit graphic

spoilerthe spots I leave behind, when I'm not careful, look like inverse impressions of my genitalia.

I have no actual advice regarding the symptoms you're experiencing - but I absolutely and completely suggest doing everything in your power to see someone outside of the VA.

Anecdotally, I've been going through my VA for something entirely different and them not knowing how to treat younger women or listen to them has cost my health significantly. Please try to get out of the thumb of the VA if possible.

You are right. It is exhausting trying to help my doctors figure out what is wrong while also fighting "this is just ptsd", or "this is your new normal" cop-outs.

I am going to let a few things run their course. But since I don't plan on staying in this city, there will be a natural case for moving all my care into community when I move again early next year

I am sorry you're struggling with the VA as well :(

I think there's supposed to be a line break in your spoiler for it to work, like hit enter after the word spoiler. But I don't find that too graphic.

How much moisture are we talking? Like it's obviously visible if you're leaving an imprint but are you leaving like a full on puddle? Does using a pad stop the imprint?

I'd be inclined to believe that if a pad doesn't stop it you might be on to something with the sweat theory. If that ends up being the case, I've heard good things about botox for sweat control.

Would getting a catheter just for diagnostic purposes be an option? Not even knowing what you’re dealing with must be unbearable.

These are like period panties, but in sweat pants form. The whole thing is absorbent and leak proof. Not the cutest, but 🤷‍♀️ You can wear them with the leak proof panties.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I hope you find resolution soon.

I don't think a diagnostic catheter was an option where I used to live. But I see my new gyno this week, so I will bring it up to her. Thank you so much for the suggestion 💜

I will check out the sweatpants in the mean time, thank you!
