Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe says he is pleased with what he saw in the 2026 federal budget on Thursday.

Speaking on Newstalk 580 CFRA’s Ottawa Now with Kristy Cameron on Friday, Sutcliffe said he was encouraged to see measures like funding for museums and the defence sector, as well as commitments toward ending homelessness.

As much as I shit on Carney, I'm glad the Liberals included:

The budget includes $11.2 billion to tackle homelessness over four years, starting next year, and $17.8 billion over 10 years. The money will help build new supportive and transitional housing across the country and commits to expanding non-market housing and building 200,000 new homes across Canada in the next decade.

Of course, the devil is in the details. Here's hoping they get it right.
