The bill would require companies like Amazon to directly employ the people who deliver their packages while also creating a licensing system that would hold the companies to new safety, training, and labor standards. It has the backing of Mayor Zohran Mamdani and 31 of the council’s 51 members—enough for it to pass if brought to a vote. Supporters of the bill say it would increase street safety while also providing better protection for the workers who deliver Amazon packages.

Amazon has put so much money to run ads in nyc lobbying against this. More than half my YouTube ads refer to this telling me that as a small business I'll be screwed out of 2 days shipping and that prices will go up.

My elderly parents are also getting ads that they're medications won't be delivered on time because of this new law and they're going to have their lives at risk.

Idk what catered ads other people are getting, but you can see the money is there and this is something a big corporation taking advantage of the working class doesn't want to happen.

I really hope this proposition goes through.

Free two-day shipping is one of the most underrecognized 21st-century catastrophes.

It's destroyed consumer expectations too. Small independent businesses can't afford that, and people get pissed about real shipping costs when it's not coming from your local Chinese factory proxy warehouse.
