I’ll start it off:

  • Windows is a perfectly fine OS, as long as you use Enterprise or Server (Home and Pro are crap)
  • Self driving cars are the future since the US won’t fully embrace mass transit

Right, good that you're here. I phrased it specifically as "anti-scientific", because of this post of yours:

That's a strawman argument. The comic makes up a situation that doesn't happen to rail against scientific consensus. If you find a natural scientist claiming "All X is Y" with full confidence and without using a ton of qualifiers, then don't talk to them.

Similarly, reading individual scientific papers isn't very useful. Talk to a doctor for nutrition advice. They spend years learning a condensate of what science has figured out. You're not gonna catch that up by reading a selection of papers.

    Great, I agree, common ground.

Most medical doctors don't actually get nutritional training outside of tube-feeding techniques. So they will need to either read the literature themselves, or give you their best approximation of a healthy diet based on their biases. https://discuss.online/post/40032579

I would absolutely expect a doctor to have a reasonable understanding of nutrition. It's the source of many illnesses.

But they can also send a blood sample or a stool sample off to a lab and tell you where you might have deficiencies.
Which I can definitely recommend. I thought, I was doing really well on nutrition and then got told I have two critical vitamin deficiencies. So, I received an extremely high dosage for a few weeks and am supplementing now.

Well, or they can send you off to an actual expert on nutrition. Your general practitioner is just the entrypoint for the whole healthcare system.

That is a reasonable expectation, however the training doesn't cover it (see my article referenced earlier, or just ask your own doctor how my hours of nutritional training they have).

Well, my current doctor actually has somewhat of a specialization in nutrition. But I'm also not from the US, so we're probably talking about different things, if we get down to these details...
