Why the absolute fuck are unnecessary surgeries being done at all. Insane! On a 7 year old child! That would be horrific to endure at that age. (Shouldn't be done unless necessary at any age in my opinion, but)

Agree, but a shocking amount of people don't, because checks notes religious freedom is more important than consent to genital mutilation, or "I want it to look like his dad's".

I'm glad mine was done as a baby, as I appreciate how much easier it is to clean. But the idea of someone taking a knife to my dick now scares the shit out of me. That being said, I don't think it should be any of the parents business. And if the young man wants to do it on his own accord, probably should at least wait til puberty to decide.

The cleaning thing is a myth btw. Dicks, just like vaginas, don't need to be washed with anything more than some running water and very gentle abrasion (unless they've gotten some large amount of dirt or foreign objects in them). They likewise both have a microbiome, which is modified significantly by circumcision.

I know the link to lower STIs is often brough up as well, but it's got shaky evidence. A recent and very large Danish study found that over "more than three decades of observation, non-therapeutic circumcision in infancy or childhood did not appear to provide protection against HIV or other STIs in males up to the age of 36 years. Rather, non-therapeutic circumcision was associated with higher STI rates overall, particularly for anogenital warts and syphilis."

I wish my parents hadn't mutilated my genitals.

I didn't realize the head was supposed to be sensitive until my late twenties.

I spent years regrowing my own foreskin. I was thrilled when, during a physical, the doctor noted I was uncircumcised. 'Only' took seven years of discomfort to be mostly whole again.

That's great! I fear it would not help in my case. I suspect the loss of sensation is due to nerve damage. Maybe I'll ask a doctor about it next time I have health insurance.

One way to be sure is keep it covered for a week and see if there's any change in sensitivity. You can use micropore tape, or wear a condom - just any method to keep your clothes from continuing the keritinization of the glans.
