A group representing General Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen and other major automakers on ​Monday backed the Trump administration in a legal challenge to its sharply lower ‌vehicle fuel economy standards filed by California and other states.

Trump and the US auto makers are trying to drastically gut the fuel economy requirements for new cars.

Instead of innovating and building better (and more reasonably sized) vehicles, they just want to continue building gas guzzlers.
