They don’t. They just casually drop the word “girlfriend” into a conversation to try and prove that they’re not an incel.

Of course, I’m making some major assumptions here, but I stand by them all.

At least it doesnt make sense that they want to get the bad smell off if they are kind of person who would have their chair smell like that. But I suppose they might also have friends that have complained about it.
