As a man writing fiction I'd like to be able to say we've come a long way since then, but I'm not sure it's true... 🤔 @galacticwriters @bookstodon @writingbooks @humor@fedigroups.social @humor@lemmy.world @aiop#WritingMemes #Meme #Fiction #Men #Humor #Humour #Geek #Author #IndieAuthor #Indie #Writers #Writing #WritingCommunity #WritersOfMastodon

So God impregnated a teenage girl so she could give birth to his son... who was also himself... so he could sacrifice himself... to himself... to convince himself to forgive humanity... for breaking rules he created.

This is why I almost exclusively read books by female authors. Men can't write fiction for shit

Men are quite simple.

There are 3 entities. The Father, which is the sum of all knowledge. The Holy Spirit, which is pure power. The Son, which represents emotion.

The Father has the master plan, how everything works and who decides when things don't work out.

The Holy Spirit, which is usually represented by a dove, is how shit gets done. Its power is what impregnated Mary and what give The Son his divinity. It's also what enacted the punishments as decreed by The Father.

The Son is the link to humanity. To feel compassion, empathy, forgiveness, mercy etc.

So The Father is the government, The Holy Spirit is the army and The Son is the civilian.

They're the same source, which is divinity, but they're separate individuals connected at the source. Now replace divinity with humanity and it's just a really roundabout way of say, we're all the same people, so stop killing each other ffs.

However, because men are simple, it all just whooshes over our heads almost constantly.

So yeah.

Do you have 3 governments? It's 3 arms of the same god.

Not saying it's true but that's what is taught

Only in some sects. Some actually believe they're separate entities, some believe in only God and Jesus, some think they're the exact same being.

If we're counting sects that Christians have killed off (literally, by murder), there is a huge slew of entities discussed, and in quite a number, God the creator is the bad guy using the physical realm to torture souls.

Basically... Abrahamic religions are just as diverse as old mythologies, as much as modern Christians hate that fact.

That's true but those groups are super rare offshoots. LDS is the only one I can think of. And IIRC it was pretty fringe early on

I mean, I cited three different sorts of a very narrow set of beliefs, and also mentioned that Christianity has a lot of lesser (or greater) deities.

The main point of my post is that LDS beliefs are still in the mainstream while christians still literally murdered a huge number of other established sects. Some that were older than the Mormon church is today.

The main point is it's all fucking fairytales, and any inkling of hegemony is only because of a massive history of murder.

No. I prefer to think of it as one god with dissociative identity disorder. It would certainly explain why people are so screwed up having been made in the image of a mad god. Also, since god is all powerful, Satan/Lucifer/or whatever, plus all the angels and other supernatural beings must all just other alters.
